TITLE: Groups and Discipleship Pastor EACH MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH INCLUDES A COMMITMENT TO SIX CORE VALUES: - Preach Boldly; proclaiming the truth of God. (Acts 14:21-23) POSITION OBJECTIVE: Develop and lead the Impact Groups ministry at Summit Point Church while assisting discipleship in additional group life (Biblical Counseling, Studies, Men’s Ministry, and Women’s Ministry). SPIRITUAL & CHARACTER QUALIFICATIONS: • Have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate, growing, personal relationship with Him. • Have a history of moral purity as a follower of Christ. • Meet the spiritual and social qualifications for elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). • Love people and be excited to see them grow in Christ. • Be outgoing and gregarious. • Be a self-starter with drive, passion, and initiative. • Be teachable and willing to be held accountable. • Be a team player with a positive attitude. • Possess the spiritual gifts of Pastor (Ephesians 4:11), leadership (Romans 12:8), and administration (1 Corinthians 12:28). • Be a member of Summit Point Church or be willing to become a member as part of the hiring process. 2 PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: • Preferably, have five or more years of full-time ministry experience in a church of at least 500 attendees. • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year Bible college or a master’s degree from an accredited evangelical seminary. • Have training in Biblical Counseling. • Be enthusiastic for the doctrine, vision, and Group Life philosophy of Summit Point Church. • Have a proven ability to recruit volunteers and develop leaders. POSITION DESCRIPTION: General • Cast the vision of complete discipleship: Worship, Walk, Work and Witness for Christ. • Assist in the pastoral care of the congregation (hospital visits, weddings, funerals, etc.). • Project and manage an annual ministry budget for the Group Life department. • Aggressively pursue personal, spiritual, and professional growth. • Carry out other assignments as directed by the Executive Lead Team Pastor in charge of groups. Impact Groups (Small Group Ministry) • Recruit, train, and mentor Impact Group Leaders and Coaches. • Write weekly Impact Group questions based on the Sunday Sermon. • Pastor Impact Groups alongside the Coaches who are Elders. • Lead an Impact Group. • Place all interested Summit Point attenders in Impact Groups. • Provide some Biblical Counseling Support for needs discovered in Impact Groups. • Work with the Biblical Counseling Pastor to ensure partnership between Group Life and Biblical Counseling. Studies and Adult Preaching • Assist in the teaching of some studies (3-week to 9-week classes) as appropriate. • Assist in covering Sunday preaching for the adult worship as well as any other areas when needed (High School, Young Adults, Men’s Ministry) SALARY AND BENEFITS: • This is a full-time salary position (45+ hours/week). • A competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience will be provided.
