Responsibilities of the Journey Kids Ministry Director: -Lead creative, engaging environments that help children grow in their understanding of who God is and what He has planned for their future. -Teach the Bible clearly in a way that is consistent with the developmental stages of children and causes them to love learning about Jesus. -Recruit, train, and inspire teams of volunteers to partner in ministry to children. -Develop leaders and create culture in children’s ministry -Consistently communicate vision and lead with passion and energy. -Oversee all ministry needs for children birth-5th grade. -Design ministry that encourages parents in their vital role of shaping their children spiritually and providing the loving foundation for their child’s future. -Work with the Lead Pastor and other staff so that all of the ministries of Journey support one another and the overall mission of the church. -Under the oversight of the Lead Pastor and the Stewardship Team, develop, oversee, and monitor a Journey Kids Ministry budget that reflects the goals of reaching, encouraging, and discipling children and families. -Plan and oversee special events throughout the year that connect the people of our church to one another and to Journey Kids Ministry as well as events that connect us to the community. Develop a ministry plan to achieve that vision. - Recruit, develop, and deploy Kids ministry volunteers. - Maintain the integrity of the children’s Bible teaching time by ensuring the instruction is consistent with the doctrinal convictions of the church. - Manage all children’s ministry volunteers that work with children from infancy through fifth grade. - Identify and execute ministry and missions opportunities for children to participate in. - Review all curriculum used by the Kids ministry and ensure they are consistent with the church’s doctrinal commitments. Win for This Role: The Central Kids Pastor will provide full-time leadership for all Journey Kids environments (birth–5th grade) across all campuses, with direct responsibility at the Avon Campus. This role is focused on building engaging, gospel-centered Sunday experiences, developing strong volunteer teams, and partnering with families to support spiritual growth both in church and at home. The Central Kids Pastor will help shape curriculum, oversee safety protocols, and lead key events and communication efforts. Primary Responsibilities: - Foster a fun, welcoming, and safe environment where every child is seen, known, loved, and learns about God. - Oversee dynamic, age-appropriate weekly services for all kids classrooms (birth–5th grade). - Recruit, train, and encourage a strong team of adult and student volunteers. - Ensure consistency in curriculum, worship, and service flow across campuses. - Provide direct leadership to Kids directors and Dream Team at the Avon Campus. - Uphold and manage safety protocols, check-in/check-out systems, and security standards. - Lead consistent team nights or gatherings to grow culture, vision, and capacity. - Communicate regularly with parents, provide them spiritual resources and practical next steps for families, and partner with them to reinforce spiritual growth outside the church. - Plan and lead seasonal events such as VBS, Kids Camp, and Family Sundays. - Partner with other ministries for church-wide events to provide children’s ministry. - Work with the Creative department to ensure web and social media presence are current and engaging, share ministry updates, events, and stories regularly online, and provide digital content for at-home discipleship.
