Director of Gatherings Neartown Church | Houston, Texas Full-Time | Starting around $75,000, depending on experience The Opportunity Neartown Church is looking for a Director of Gatherings to lead worship and oversee our Sunday gathering environment. This could be an ideal next step for an experienced worship leader who is ready to grow beyond leading music into broader ministry leadership. You'll lead worship, lead and develop volunteers, and help ensure our Sunday gatherings are prepared and executed with excellence. We're not looking for someone who has already done everything. We're looking for someone with a strong foundation in worship ministry, demonstrated leadership ability, and an eagerness to learn and grow. Neartown is an environment where you'll have the opportunity to receive coaching, develop as a leader, and grow in responsibility. You won't be expected to build a ministry or its systems from scratch. You'll step into an established direction and structure and help lead it well. What You'll Do - Lead Worship — Lead vocally and instrumentally, select songs, build worship sets, and cultivate a contemporary, participatory worship culture. - Lead Sunday Gatherings — Partner with the Lead Pastor to plan and execute engaging, Scripture-centered services. - Lead the Team — Oversee and care for worship and production teams, including music, audio, video, livestream, and slides. - Develop People — Train, empower, and develop volunteers and team leaders. - Execute Well — Learn and lead within the systems already in place, ensuring Sundays are prepared, communicated, and consistently well-executed. - Join the Life of Neartown — Collaborate with our staff and actively participate in the relationships and discipleship culture of the church. Who We're Looking For We're looking for a spiritually mature follower of Jesus who: - Has experience leading contemporary worship - Leads vocally and plays guitar or piano - Loves people as much as music - Can lead and develop volunteers - Is organized, dependable, and proactive - Can learn an established system and execute it consistently - Is humble, teachable, and eager to receive feedback - Wants to continue developing as a ministry leader - Aligns with Neartown's theology, mission, and culture You do not need to be an expert in every area of Sunday production. We have people serving in those areas. You need enough understanding to lead the team, take ownership of the overall gathering, and make sure the pieces come together. About Neartown Church Neartown Church is an urban church in the heart of Houston with a mission of inviting busy people to experience the peace of life with Jesus Christ. Our approach to discipleship is: Belong - Surrender - Train - Multiply Our Sunday gatherings are contemporary, relational, and centered on Scripture. We want worship that is theologically grounded, musically current, and invites the congregation to participate rather than simply observe. We're looking for someone who wants to invest in a local church, develop as a leader, and help us build the next season of Neartown.
