Job Description

Contemporary Worship Leader & Youth Director

Position Type: Full-Time Reports To: Executive Pastor

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, spiritually mature, and gifted Contemporary Worship Leader & Youth Director to lead our contemporary worship ministry while developing and directing a vibrant youth program that reaches beyond the walls of the church and positively impacts our community.

This position combines two important areas of ministry: leading a contemporary worship experience with a full band and building a Christ-centered youth ministry where students can grow in their faith, develop meaningful relationships, discover their gifts, and become active servants within the church and community.

The ideal candidate will have a heart for worship, a passion for students, strong leadership abilities, and a desire to build teams and ministries that engage people of all ages.

Contemporary Worship Leadership

The Contemporary Worship Leader will:

  • Lead and develop a contemporary worship ministry utilizing a full band and vocal team.
  • Plan and lead engaging, biblically grounded worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and develop worship team members, musicians, and vocalists.
  • Conduct regular rehearsals and provide musical and spiritual leadership to the worship team.
  • Select songs and develop worship sets that support the biblical message and direction of each service.
  • Encourage a culture of worship, excellence, humility, teamwork, and spiritual growth.
  • Help identify and develop emerging musicians and worship leaders within the congregation.
  • Coordinate with sound, media, and technology volunteers to provide a quality worship experience.
  • Participate in special services, church events, outreach opportunities, and community gatherings.
  • Continue developing personally as a worship leader and spiritually as a ministry leader.

Youth Ministry Leadership

The Youth Director will develop and lead a comprehensive youth ministry designed to help students know Christ, grow in their faith, build healthy relationships, serve others, and become engaged in the life of the church and community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a clear vision and ministry strategy for students from middle school through high school.
  • Create a welcoming, energetic, and Christ-centered youth environment.
  • Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings, Bible studies, small groups, worship experiences, and special events.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and encourage adult volunteers and youth ministry leaders.
  • Build meaningful relationships with students and provide spiritual encouragement and mentoring.
  • Develop opportunities for students to serve within the church and throughout the community.
  • Create community outreach initiatives that allow students to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • Develop partnerships with local schools, organizations, families, and community leaders when appropriate.
  • Organize retreats, mission projects, service opportunities, camps, conferences, and other youth activities.
  • Encourage students to invite friends and become active participants in the church.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and families regarding youth ministry activities and opportunities.
  • Establish appropriate safety, supervision, and child-protection practices in accordance with church policies.
  • Help students discover and develop their spiritual gifts and leadership abilities.
  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor and other ministry leaders to create a unified church-wide ministry vision.

Community Impact

A key emphasis of this position will be developing a youth ministry that serves the community rather than simply gathering students at church.

The Youth Director will be encouraged to identify practical ways for students to serve local families, schools, organizations, and community needs. The goal is to help young people see their faith as something they live out every day through compassion, service, leadership, and sharing the love of Christ.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the authority of Scripture and the mission of the local church.
  • Have experience leading contemporary worship and working with a full band.
  • Possess strong musical, vocal, and leadership abilities.
  • Have experience working with middle and high school students.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to recruit, develop, and lead volunteers.
  • Have a genuine passion for reaching and discipling the next generation.
  • Demonstrate maturity, integrity, dependability, and a servant's heart.
  • Be willing to become actively involved in the life and ministry of the church.
  • Possess the ability to work collaboratively with pastors, staff, volunteers, parents, and church members.

Formal ministry education or training is preferred but not required. Relevant ministry and leadership experience will be considered.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who can lead worship from the platform and lead students into a deeper relationship with Christ off the platform.

The right person will be more than a musician or youth-program coordinator. We are seeking a ministry-minded leader who can build teams, develop relationships, disciple young people, engage families, and help our church make a meaningful difference in the community.
