OBJECTIVE Provides ministry-focused leadership, operational management, and administrative oversight for all church facilities and physical assets across multiple campuses. RESPONSIBILITIES Supervisory: - Demonstrate high organization and proactive problem-solving to efficiently schedule, prioritize, and manage operations across all facilities. - Recruit, train, equip, and retain paid staff and volunteer core teams (weekly setup/teardown teams, skilled trades volunteers, and quarterly serve days). - Direct day-to-day internal and external facility operations, ensuring standard-of-excellence cleanliness, repair, and readiness for weekly services and special events. - Supervise, mentor, and evaluate facility team members, including direct reports and dotted-line campus facilities personnel. - Oversee annual facilities operating budgets and vendor contract negotiations to ensure wise financial stewardship. - Perform additional operational duties and special projects as requested by the Executive Pastor. Facilities Management: - Implement and maintain a comprehensive Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for routine maintenance, asset lifecycle tracking, and preventive care schedules. - Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, landscape, audio/visual infrastructure support, and general structural maintenance. - Collaborate with creative and ministry teams to execute seasonal, sermon series, and event-specific staging/decor installations. - Manage custodial and janitorial operations utilizing internal teams and third-party contractors to uphold rigorous sanitation standards. - Maintain regulatory compliance with municipal building codes, OSHA guidelines, fire safety codes, and ADA accessibility standards. - Oversee church construction and renovation projects as needed. - Serve on-call for campus emergencies, severe weather incidents, and immediate facility maintenance needs. Security and Safety Oversight: - Serve as the primary point of contact for fire safety, physical security systems, access control (keys/badges), and emergency preparedness plans. - Partner with local law enforcement, emergency responders, contracted security personnel, and volunteer safety teams to maintain safe campus environments. - Supervise security director and help with security core team, training and staff communication. Parking Team Management: - Recruit, train and empower core team for parking for Sunday services, Wednesday nights and big events. - Coordinate and hire off-duty police for traffic direction for Sunday services, Wednesday nights and big events. - Help give central guidance to the regional campuses in regards to strategy and resources. External Event Management: - Manage tenant relations, lease compliance, occupancy agreements, and day-to-day communications with external partner organizations. - Coordinate facility usage and technical setup support with the Special Events Project Manager for internal ministries and external facility rentals. - Source, vet, and oversee external service vendors and sub-contractors, establishing service level agreements and quality checks. QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in facilities management (church/non-profit setting preferred). - Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, building automation, and security systems. - Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, and operate basic equipment and tools. - Proficiency with Facilities/CMMS software, Building Management Systems (BMS), project management software, and general office productivity suites. Here's what the regular cadence looks like: Crosswalk (Tuesday Nights): Crosswalk is FCUMC's Celebrate Recovery ministry for students, held every Tuesday evening. The director supervises the Crosswalk staff, two licensed clinical social workers, and helps coordinate their needs and support. This is a unique and vital part of what makes this ministry distinct. Wednesday Nights (Traditional Youth Group): Wednesday evenings are the heart of the weekly student gathering, currently bringing junior high and senior high together. There is genuine interest from parents and older students in developing a separate experience for high schoolers, and this role will have the creative space to explore what that could look like over time. Sunday Morning Discipleship: Sunday School and discipleship programming run each week with the support of a wonderful team of volunteers. The director works alongside and equips these volunteers. Open Gym: Informal open gym time is a key relational touchpoint. The director provides primary leadership and presence during these drop-in gatherings. Beyond the weekly rhythm, a few anchor events shape the ministry year: Resurrection: An annual weekend retreat held each January. This is a cornerstone event for spiritual formation and community-building among students. Summer Mission Trips: Hands-on mission experiences that put faith into action. The summer calendar is shaped significantly by what students themselves ask for, that ownership is central to how trust is built here. Student Voice & Listening Sessions: An annual or semi-annual listening session with students is a built-in expectation of this role. What students share shapes what we do as part of listening to this generation of leaders and Christ followers. Additional events, service opportunities, and student-led experiences throughout the year. Young Adult Ministry: Young adult engagement is a growing vision at FCUMC. The groundwork has been laid; this role will take that vision from intention to reality. Expect to invest in relationship-building and discern what structures best serve this demographic in this season. Staff Collaboration: This position works in genuine partnership with the full staff of the church. Your direct supervisor is the Pastor of Discipleship. You will work closely with the social media coordinator on the ministry’s social media and web presence. Staff work as a team by design. Whole Church Participation: As a member of the broader staff team, this role includes pitching in on the overall life of the church including: occasional physical tasks during events, setups, and community gatherings. Principal Function The Pastor is responsible to God to lead FBC of Etowah, TN, for leading members to witness; to grow and develop in Christian maturity; and to participate in Christian Ministries; and for acting as the administrator of the paid church staff. Areas of Accountability - Preach and teach the inerrant word of God, and, in doing so foster the growth and leadership of the church body. - Plan and conduct the worship services; prepare and deliver sermons Sunday morning and Wednesday evening; lead in observance of the church ordinances. - Set an example in growing the church by visiting members, prospects and the sick. - Conduct counseling sessions; perform wedding ceremonies; and conduct funerals.
