Monte Vista Chapel is a non-denominational church in the Central Valley of California. Over the past fifteen years, we have transitioned from an attractional to a formational model of ministry. We define Spiritual Formation as “our ongoing response to God’s grace, shaping us into the likeness of Jesus, through the work of the Holy Spirit, in the community of believers, for the sake of the world.” It is through our lifelong commitment to Spiritual Formation that we live out our vision of “Christ in us, Christ through us.” More than a music leader, MVC is looking for a ‘Chief Liturgist’ who will shepherd the congregation through the church calendar by providing opportunities (music, prayer, sacrament, spiritual exercise, etc.) for them to corporately ‘bump into Jesus.’ While Sunday Services are a significant place for this to happen, we do not want to limit these opportunities to one specific time of the week. Responsibilities: - Shepherd and equip the arts and music team members in leadership of formational corporate worship gatherings to embody the vision and mission of MVC. - Shepherd a team culture of care, belonging, creativity and hospitality. - Schedule Volunteer Music teams (and facilitate subs if needed) for Sunday Morning music using Planning Center Services. - Coordinate with weekly leaders to provide resources and shepherd the planning process. - Curate new song materials and update changes to current playlist materials as MVC arrangements develop. - Manage licensing / reporting requirements for music - Plan and facilitate seasonal decorations within the Worship Center to support the seasons of the church calendar. - Plan and lead or equip volunteers to plan and lead festival services including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day (when on Sunday), Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. - Coordinate with other staff for special events and seasonal events when needed. - Maintain awareness of congregational need for special services (prayer, celebration, reflection, etc. - Oversee Technical Director (30+ hours per week) - Oversee Worship Arts Budget The Worship Arts Pastor is a direct report to the Senior Pastor. Mission Statement BVC exists to Model Christ’s likeness, Engage others, and Cultivate lives of godliness. Core Responsibilities The Senior Pastor’s central responsibilities revolve around preaching the gospel and caring for this flock's overall spiritual well-being (2 Timothy 2:15. 1 Peter 5:1-5, Hebrews 13:17). Preaching and Teaching - Deliver Biblically accurate and aligned sermons for the main worship service each week. - In conjunction with the Elder Board, ensure the overall teaching of BVC, in all ministries, align with Christ and His word. - Continue to develop and cultivate theological understanding and unity of the Elder Board and staff. Vision and Leadership - Act as the primary visionary of BVC, and work with the Elder Board to cultivate, articulate, and activate (Implement) BVC's vision. - Ultimately responsible for managing and leading staff, employed and volunteer. - Continue to Identify spiritual leaders, Edify them, with the intent to Testify of Christ and Multiply His likeness. Pastoral Care and Administration - Oversee the pastoral care ministry of the church in conjunction with the pastoral and elder team. Including baptisms, weddings, funerals, and hospital visitations. - In conjunction with the pastoral and elder team, administer the ordinances (communion, baptism, etc.). - Manage the day-to-day business of the church. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - Follower of Jesus Christ for more than 10 years. - Exemplifies the qualifications of an elder as prescribed in the Bible. - Degree in biblical studies. - 5 of more years of full-time vocational ministry experience - Skilled in financial oversight and best practices with a church context. - Skilled in cultivating and collaborating with both paid staff and volunteer Preferred Qualifications - Follower of Jesus Christ for more than 20 years. - Advanced degree in biblical studies. - 10 years or more of full-time vocational ministry experience. - Lead Pastor ministry experience. - Ministry experience in California or a similar context. Compensation A competitive compensation package based upon qualifications and experience.
