The Heart of This Role

The Youth Pastor gives spiritual leadership, vision, and day-to-day care to the student ministry of Neighborhood Church. This person creates a welcoming, Spirit-filled ministry where students can experience Jesus, engage in spiritual growth, and put God’s love into action. The role is centered on discipling students, equipping leaders, partnering with families, and helping young people become lifelong followers of Jesus.

What You Will Focus On

Spiritual Leadership and Vision

• Share a clear vision for youth ministry that reflects the mission and values of Neighborhood Church.
• Create spaces where students can encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and discover their purpose.
• Build a culture shaped by prayer, worship, discipleship, evangelism, leadership development, and the work of the Holy Spirit.
• Model a genuine life of faith and serve as a trusted spiritual mentor to students and volunteers.

Weekly Youth Ministry

• Plan and lead Wednesday evening youth services, activities, and ministry experiences.
• Preach and teach biblical messages that are rooted in Scripture and connect with students’ lives.
• Offer discipleship opportunities that help students build personal habits of faith and devotion.
• Create outreach opportunities that help students share their faith and invite others to Christ.

Leaders and Volunteers

• Identify, develop, and empower a strong team of adult and student leaders.
• Use the Leadership Pipeline model to recognize and develop emerging leaders.
• Invest in a student leadership team that takes part in planning, outreach, worship, and discipleship.
• Give volunteers regular training, coaching, encouragement, and clear accountability.

Schools and Community Outreach

• Build an active ministry presence in local middle schools and high schools whenever possible.
• Develop healthy relationships with students, school staff, coaches, and community leaders.
• Encourage students to live out their faith and influence their schools for Christ.

Events Camps and Missions

• Organize and lead camps, mission trips, retreats, conferences, outreach events, and special activities.
• Plan events that are safe, organized, spiritually meaningful, and connected to ministry goals.

Communication and Stewardship

• Keep youth ministry social media and digital communication current and engaging.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with students, parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
• Manage the youth ministry budget with care and responsibility.

Church Staff and Ministry Team

• Take part in weekly staff meetings and ministry planning.
• Help with Sunday morning services and church-wide events as needed.
• Support the Lead Pastor and church leadership in carrying out the church’s mission and vision.
• Work well with other ministry teams and help build a unified church culture.

What Will Help You Thrive

Required

• DOJ Live Scan clearance.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God, or the ability to qualify for them.
• At least two years of youth ministry experience as a pastor, leader, or volunteer.
• Strong people skills and clear written communication.
• Good judgment, discretion, a listening ear, and a warm, resourceful approach to people.
• The ability to assess a situation, choose an effective response, and work independently when needed.
• A dependable record of attendance and punctuality.

Preferred

• The ability to lead or train a youth worship team.
• Two or more years of college credit.
