Senior Pastor
Lemoyne Baptist Church
Genoa, OH
$55,000
Pastoral Candidate Profile, Lemoyne Baptist Church, Genoa, Ohio Overview We are a Baptist Congregation in Northwest Ohio searching for our next lead pastor. We desire a pastor to help us continue to grow in Christ to better serve our Church and community. Overall, our Church people are warm, loving, and inviting. Our people often minister to one another behind the scenes without any public acknowledgement. We are a missions-minded church. We also have a passion for orphan care and partner with two ministries who care for children in 7+ countries. Personal Considerations We are seeking a candidate who fulfills the following general profile. We have sought to carefully word our considerations. Therefore, elements we “require” are non-negotiable. Elements which we “prefer” are areas somewhat open to consideration as we evaluate the candidate as a whole. We will supply an electronic version of our Constitution upon request. - We require a candidate be a married man. - We require a candidate and his wife provide a credible testimony of their faith in Christ, their baptism by immersion following their profession of faith, and of a consistent life of obedience. - We require a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to pastoral ministry OR a demonstrable combination of education and experience (formal or practical) of at least equal measure/quality. - We prefer a candidate have a Master’s Degree related to pastoral ministry. - We require a candidate have at least two years of practical ministry experience, which may include a documented internship OR create an internship at LBC designed to prepare the candidate for the Lead Pastor/Elder position. - We prefer a candidate have at least five years of pastoral ministry experience. - We prefer a candidate be ordained for the Gospel ministry. - We require any candidate who is not ordained to commit to being ordained within 30 months of accepting the call to be the Pastor of Lemoyne Baptist Church. Spiritual Qualifications We require that a candidate fulfill the qualifications of an Elder/Bishop/Pastor given in 1Ti 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9. Details of what we believe regarding these standards are found in Elected Officers section of our Constitution. We believe that the following qualifications are absolute requirements. - Blamelessness: no significant truthful charge that can be brought against one’s character within the Church or the community. - The husband of one wife or a one-woman man. This includes never having been remarried while a former wife is/was living. - Having obedient, compliant children. Since salvation is between the Lord and an individual, we do not hold that a Pastor’s children must be believers. - Recognized as having the ability to teach. - We believe many of the other qualifications constitute a consistency in character, and not a standard of perfection. Theological Standards We require a pastoral candidate to agree, in principle, with the Constitution of Lemoyne Baptist Church. We require a pastoral candidate to agree fully with the Statement of Faith portion of the Constitution. Theologically, we are a Baptist Church that holds to the Doctrines of Grace and a Dispensational Pre-Tribulation, Pre-Millennial position. At the same time, we seek to be balanced by preaching the whole counsel of God in order to foster a broad understanding of the will of God and service to Him. We understand that there may be varying methods to fulfill biblical corporate practices, and are open to some variation in those areas. We also understand there are variations within orthodoxy. Our local assembly of believers has determined through our constitution that a pastor of Lemoyne Baptist Church is required to hold and uphold our doctrine. Professional Expectations We understand that God has created every believer to serve Him in all aspects of life. We believe that Pastors have been gifted/enabled by God to carry out the general duties of the Office of Elder/Bishop/Pastor. We also believe that every person has strengths and weaknesses. In addition, God has provided each local assembly with abilities to fulfill His purposes. As with the individual, each congregation has strengths and weaknesses. We believe that no individual member excels to the point where they function independently of the Body. We believe this includes Pastors/Elders. Therefore, we do not expect a “super-pastor.” What we are looking for is a good “match” between Pastor and Congregation. We are seeking a partner in ministry under the authority of Christ and the Word of God who will lead us in becoming more like Jesus. We believe the Scriptures explain the main responsibilities of a Pastor: - Oversee (Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 5:2) - Rule (1 Ti 5:17, Heb 13:7&17) - Preach/Teach (1Ti 4:11, 2Ti 2:24) - Evangelize (2Ti 4:5) We expect any candidate to be able to provide evidence of fulfilling these responsibilities and provide references who have witnessed the candidate capably exercise them. We will further evaluate professional expectations based upon the strengths and weaknesses of the candidate and the needs of the Church. Compensation Our local assembly takes seriously the responsibility written in 1 Timothy 5:18. Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages." Several factors determine a compensation package, but we provide a healthy salary. We are committed to a minimum salary of $55,000 plus benefits and professional expenses. This includes funds for health insurance, retirement, mileage and or expenses. We also provide ample time off.
