Senior Pastor

Northern Heights Baptist Church

Norfolk, NE

Senior PastorFull-TimeOn-Site

In 1970, five families established a Southern Baptist Church in Norfolk (pronounced Nor-fork), Nebraska. Their original vision to provide sound biblical teaching to members, visitors, and the community has endured even as Northern Heights Baptist Church has grown to become a significant ministry center in Norfolk and beyond. As the church has grown and flourished, a host of new ministries have been implemented to serve families, youth, and children, as well as those in outlying communities and from other cultures. But from this one constant, the people and leaders of NHBC have not wavered: We are devoted to God’s Word and earnest in our desire to live out our faith in all that we do. Our last Senior Pastor at Northern Heights served faithfully from 2003 to 2023. The consistent growth of NHBC was the result of his earnest, authentic, sound, and practical instruction from God’s Word. We loved it and saw many come from our community out of a hunger for truth. As we seek the next man to serve at NHBC, we are looking for an individual who can continue such a work that is Word-centered. This individual will provide sound biblically-based instruction complemented by practical application in various teaching settings, including weekly worship services. He must have theological training in the form of an M. Div. (graduated or enrolled) or equivalent from an evangelical, conservative seminary. His life must confirm what he teaches: He will be a man of exemplary character as defined by the biblical qualifications of an elder and demonstrate sincere devotion to God’s Word. We live in a world where the truth of God’s Word is under attack. We are prepared to stand firm, and we are looking for a man to stand with us even as he helps us go deeper. There is more to be said about what is needed in our next pastor, but the above description highlights one of the essentials. To get the whole picture, secure a PDF brochure that describes our open position in full. Please let us know of your interest in receiving this brochure by sending an email to spsearch@northernheightsbc.com. Senior Pastor

Northern Heights Baptist Church

Norfolk, NE

Senior PastorFull-TimeOn-SiteSouthern Baptist

Northern Heights Baptist Church is a thriving Southern Baptist Church located in Norfolk (pronounced Nor-fork), the 7th largest city in Nebraska. From its humble beginnings as a house church in 1970, Northern Heights has grown to become a thriving congregation of about 400 that has also supported the planting of several other churches, including a Spanish-speaking congregation of about 100 which also meets on our main campus. The previous senior pastor led Northern Heights well from 2003 to 2023. Under his tenure, Northern Heights outgrew previous facilities, purchased a 20-acre site on the north side of town, and built a multi-million-dollar facility that is now completely paid for. We are currently being led by an Intentional Interim Pastor (from IPM) who has (1) helped us get healthy, (2) mobilized biblically-driven leadership, and (3) re-energized us in our earthly mission of making disciples. We are ready, with God’s help and that of the man of His choosing, to take things to the next level. This individual will be an effective and inspiring teacher of God’s Word. He will be a motivating and encouraging team-builder for our staff (6 paid staff), elders (currently 6, but 3 more coming soon) and many lay ministry leaders. He will be the kind of man who relates well to others and whose wise and godly counsel is sought out. And, he will be a man who is energized by our earthly assignment to make disciples of every people group. Based on these qualities, such a man will be a growth asset and ministry coach for a people on mission. To secure a PDF brochure that provides a robust description of Northern Heights Baptist Church, Norfolk, and what we are looking for, please let us know of your interest by sending an email to spsearch@northernheightsbc.com.
