Job Description

Lake Bible Church is financially stable, located in a prime location, and is debt free in a high-potential facility. POSITION
Director of Student Ministries (this is likely a 20-25 hour/week position that will be paired with other responsibilities to create a full-time position)
PURPOSE
Build a community that disciples middle school and high school students by leading them to Christ, engaging them with God’s Word, training them in spiritual disciplines, and connecting them to one another. Work alongside parents to equip as many students as possible to mature in their walk so that when they leave the church, they will not leave the Faith.
RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Supervises: Middle School and High School Volunteer Team
Collaborates with: Lead Pastor, pastoral staff, Elders, ministry leaders, volunteers
QUALIFICATIONS
- You are growing in your relationship with Christ
- You can affirm Lake Bible Church’s doctrinal statement in its entirety.
- You have a demonstrated ability to teach God’s Word to students so that they can apply it directly to their lives.
- You are able to comfortably connect and relate with middle school and high school students as well as with their parents.
- You have experience working in and leading student ministry.
- You can pass a background check.
- Previous experience on a church staff is a plus.
Overview of Responsibilities
Because the primary responsibility for discipling students lies with their parents, in all areas of ministry, the Director of Student Ministries will work alongside and in partnership with parents.
Discipleship
- Lead a weekly gathering that is focused on teaching and applying Scripture
- Design group experiences that promote connection with other students for the purpose of growth and fellowship
- As appropriate, plan retreats and trips that facilitate the students' spiritual maturity
Connection
- Arrange (monthly at least) events and activities that promote relational connection among students
- Create (2-4 per year) outreach events that encourage students to invite and bring their unsaved or unchurched friends
Empowering
- Develop and train a team of adult volunteers to administrate the ministry and serve as mentors and group leaders to the students
- Equip a team of student leaders to own and carry out significant elements of the ministry
- Collaborate with other ministry leaders at Lake to create service opportunities for students in other areas of the church.
