The Production Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for all production environments across Metro Life Church, including audio, video, lighting, presentation, livestreaming, podcast production, and production infrastructure. PURPOSE OF POSITION The Production Director provides visionary and operational leadership for all technical production at Church at Viera, overseeing the audio, video, lighting, and broadcast elements of adults and children’s worship services, as well as ministry events throughout the week. At CAV’s scale of 2,500+ adults in weekend attendance, this is a leadership role requiring the ability to build, develop, and manage a multi-layered team of staff and volunteers. The Production Director is accountable for delivering an excellent technical worship experience that serves CAV’s mission week after week. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Team Leadership & Development - Recruit, hire, develop, and manage production staff including Production Coordinators, discipline leads (audio, video, lighting), and contracted specialists - Build and oversee a large, organized volunteer structure capable of supporting 2,500+ adult weekend attendance across multiple services and venues - Create a production team culture centered on our vision and values, one that is competent, connected, and deeply committed to ministry - Conduct regular staff reviews, provide ongoing coaching, and develop growth paths for direct reports - Lead weekly production team meetings/trainings and participate in broader Service Programming Team planning meetings Production Excellence & Execution - Provide strategic and creative leadership for all audio, video, lighting, set design, and broadcast elements of weekend worship services and special events, as well as various ministry events throughout the week. - Establish and maintain high production standards appropriate for a church of our size and influence - Serve as executive technical decision-maker on service production, including IMAG, multi-camera video direction, live streaming, broadcast video, and post-production workflows - Oversee the use of ProPresenter, digital audio consoles, intelligent lighting, and other production platforms used across Church at Viera’s campus - Continuously evaluate production quality; identify gaps and drive improvements across staff and volunteer teams - Oversee multi-venue and/or multi-site production coordination to ensure consistency across all locations Operations, Technology & Stewardship - Own and manage the capital and operational production budget with accountability to the Worship Pastor - Direct the evaluation, procurement, installation, and lifecycle management of all production equipment and technology infrastructure - Establish maintenance schedules, equipment inventory systems, and replacement planning to protect Church at Viera’s technical investments - Stay current with emerging production technologies, including AI-assisted production tools, cloud-based media workflows, live streaming platforms, and make informed recommendations for adoption - Ensure all production operations meet applicable compliance, safety, and copyright standards Strategic Planning & Cross-Team Collaboration - Serve as the senior production voice in weekly Service Programming Department planning meetings, contributing technical insight to the creative and service planning process - Partner with the Worship Pastor and pastoral team to anticipate production needs for series launches, special events, holidays, and campus-wide initiatives - Manage vendor and contractor relationships related to production, broadcast, and event technical services - Develop and implement a long-range production roadmap that supports Church at Viera’s vision for growth, new campuses, and broadcast ministry EDUCATION - Bachelor’s degree or formal training in production, broadcast, communications, or a related technical discipline preferred - Equivalent combination of professional experience and demonstrated technical expertise will be considered EXPERIENCE - 5+ years of hands-on experience in a professional production environment required - Minimum 3+ years in a Production Director or Technical Director role at a church with 2,500+ weekend attendance strongly preferred - Demonstrated experience managing a multi-person production staff team with direct accountability for hiring, development, and performance - Expert-level experience in live audio, IMAG, multi-camera video direction, and live streaming/broadcast workflows - Experience with large-scale lighting design and execution in a live worship context - Proven track record of managing significant production budgets (capital and operational) with measurable stewardship outcomes - Multi-venue and/or multi-site production leadership experience strongly preferred - Familiarity with AI-assisted production workflows, cloud media platforms, and modern streaming distribution (e.g. Resi, BOXCAST, YouTube Live) preferred SKILLS - A vital and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ - Align with the vision, mission, and values of Church at Viera - Must be a proven team builder with the ability to inspire, develop, and unify staff and volunteers around a shared ministry vision - Must demonstrate Godly character and a lifestyle consistent with biblical standards and our staff values - Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead across pastoral, administrative, creative, and technical audiences - Must be a high-capacity leader who can hold strategic vision and operational detail - Must be organized, decisive, and able to manage competing priorities under the pressures of a weekly production rhythm - Must have strong instructional and coaching skills to develop staff and train a large volunteer base - Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs or more - Must have advanced working knowledge of: Stage design, construction, and maintenance Digital audio consoles, live sound reinforcement, and multi-room audio systems at scale Multi-camera video production, switching, IMAG, and broadcast/streaming delivery Intelligent lighting design, DMX programming, and lighting control systems ProPresenter and multi-screen presentation workflow management Video editing and post-production software (e.g. Adobe Premiere) Production project management and scheduling in a high-frequency, multi-service environment EXPECTED HOURS TO WORK - Sunday – Thursday.
