Job Description

Worship Pastor

Columbia City/Fort Wayne, IN

About Community of Hope

Community of Hope exists to help lost, broken, and wounded people find hope and healing in Jesus. Located in Columbia City, Indiana, a thriving bedroom community of Fort Wayne, we are a contemporary church with a heart for reaching people far from God. Our long-term vision is bold: to multiply into five campuses in fifteen years, sharing the hope of Jesus across our region. If you are a Worship Leader who intensely desires to be a part of a ministry that is making an impact and is passionate about expanding its influence, then this position might be for you.

Position Summary

The Worship Leader will serve as a key member of the staff team, leading authentic, engaging, and Christ-centered contemporary worship experiences that help people reflect upon who God is and direct their attention toward Him. This leader has prominent vocal and excellent instrumental ability, a dynamic stage presence, and able to catalyze participants into the presence of God by the power of God’s Spirit alongside the congregation of worshipers. In addition, the person is able to develop outstanding worship teams across the current and future campuses.

This person also has a proficiency in the technical side of the worship experience, including sound, lighting, and livestreaming and is able to enlist, train, and empower others to flourish in these areas. Creating an aesthetically pleasing, minimally distracting environment is a necessity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Worship: Plan and lead meaningful, contemporary worship services that draw people closer to Jesus and connect with those who are unchurched or exploring faith.
  • Develop Teams: Recruit, train, and pastor musicians, vocalists, and production volunteers, fostering a healthy, encouraging, and spiritually growing team culture.
  • Creative Collaboration: Craft worship experiences and multimedia presentations that align with the message and mission of the church.
  • Multiply Leaders: Identify and develop future worship leaders to support our multi-campus vision.
  • Effectively Administrate: Manage worship set planning, team scheduling, and team rehearsals.
  • Oversee Logistics: Develop and oversee weekly sound, media, and lighting teams.
  • Live on Mission: Actively build relationships in the church and community, demonstrating Christ’s love and embodying our mission to reach the lost, broken, and wounded.

Qualifications

  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with Community of Hope’s mission, vision and values.
  • Passion for helping people experience the fullness of who God is, what He has done for us, and His worthiness.
  • Desires to be part of a staff team committed to excellence.
  • Has a growth mindset that strives for continual improvement and effectiveness.
  • Skilled vocalist and instrumentalist (guitar or keys preferred).
  • Experience leading worship in a contemporary style that engages both believers and seekers.
  • Ability to recruit, enhance, and multiply volunteer team members.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, driven, high-achieving, and creative — thrives in a growing, vision-driven environment.

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of experience leading worship in a church setting.
  • Familiarity with tools like Planning Center, ProPresenter, and modern worship technology.
  • Experience in church planting or multi-site ministry is a plus.

Personal Qualities

  • Spiritually mature and grounded in prayer.
  • Relational and approachable — loves people genuinely.
  • Missional heart — sees worship as a tool for both evangelism and discipleship.
  • Team-oriented, humble, and teachable.
