Campus Worship Minister

Greenford Christian Church Youngstown, Ohio, United States

Campus Worship Minister, Full-Time Staff

Overview

Greenford Christian Church is looking for a full-time Campus Worship Minister to help lead worship ministry and support the Lead Worship Minister in creating worship experiences where people can encounter God and move closer to Jesus.

This role is about more than singing songs on a stage. Yes, musical skill matters, Sunday mornings matter, and knowing your way around Playback and ProPresenter is a major green flag. But the bigger goal is helping people worship Jesus with their whole lives.

You will help lead worship, prepare services, coach volunteers, support Student Ministry worship, and serve with other GCC campuses as needed. Basically, we need someone who can lead a room, love a team, handle details, and stay calm when technology decides to act brand new five minutes before service.

About GCC Worship

At GCC, worship is not a concert or about “watching the talented people on stage while everyone else awkwardly decides whether to clap.”

Worship is about pointing people to Jesus. Our worship ministry exists to create authentic, engaging environments where people can meet with God, respond to Him, and become more like Christ.

Current Worship Ministry Vibe

This role will primarily lead and support Worship at a Campus Level, while also helping at other campus locations one Sunday per month (or as needed). You will be part of a larger worship and production team, which means you are not building your own little worship kingdom. You are joining a team, carrying a shared vision, and helping the ministry move forward together.

The goal is simple: worship that is spiritually deep, musically excellent, well-prepared, and not held together by vibes, and one half-charged iPad.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Worship

You will lead worship primarily on Sunday mornings at a Campus level, and occasionally at other campuses as needed. You need to be able to lead with confidence, humility, and a clear heart for helping people focus on Jesus.

Support the Lead Worship Minister

You will work closely with the Lead Worship Minister to support his vision, leadership, planning, and ministry goals. That includes helping with weekly prep, service planning, worship ministry details, communication, and follow-through.

Prepare Services and Rehearsals

You will help plan worship sets, prepare music, build resources, and lead rehearsals that are clear, focused, and helpful. A strong rehearsal should build musical excellence, team unity, spiritual focus, and fewer “wait, what are we doing here?” moments.

Develop Volunteers

You will help recruit, train, encourage, and care for worship volunteers. This includes musicians, vocalists, students, and emerging worship leaders. We are not just filling spots on a schedule. We are developing people.

Handle Worship Tech and Systems

You will help create and maintain Playback sessions for weekend services, ministry gatherings, and special events. You will also use tools like ProPresenter, Planning Center-style systems, Microsoft Office, Zoom, social media, music software, and other ministry tools. You do not need to be the Tony Stark of worship tech, but you do need to be willing to learn and not panic when a cable has chosen violence.

Build Healthy Worship Culture

You will help carry the worship ministry’s vision and values to staff, volunteers, and the church. That means leading with humility, encouraging the team, communicating clearly, and keeping Jesus at the center.

Typical Activities

This role includes responsibilities like:

  • Leading worship on Sunday mornings
  • Supporting worship for other ministry gatherings
  • Helping at other campuses as needed
  • Attending weekly worship and production meetings
  • Participating in monthly staff meetings and anchor meetings
  • 1-to-1 meetings with the Lead Worship Minister
  • Planning songs and worship sets
  • Preparing rehearsals
  • Building Playback sessions
  • Developing volunteers and young worship leaders
  • Helping with special services and events
  • Working with production and Weekend Experience teams

Translation: this role is part musician, part pastor, part planner, part tech-aware human, and part “calm presence when Sunday morning gets Sunday morning-ish.”

Who We’re Looking For...

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A committed follower of Jesus
  • A strong worship leader and musician
  • Passionate about worship and the mission of GCC
  • Humble, teachable, and willing to grow
  • Flexible, hardworking, reliable, and fun
  • A clear communicator
  • A strong team player
  • Comfortable leading people spiritually and musically
  • Able to recruit and develop volunteers
  • Good with details and follow-through
  • Comfortable with worship tech and ministry software
  • Able to work independently without needing constant babysitting
  • Able to work under leadership without making it weird
  • A strong relationship-builder
  • In possession of a valid driver’s license

Green Flags

You might be a strong fit if:

  • You love Jesus more than you love being on stage
  • You can lead worship without making worship about you
  • You care about both spiritual depth and musical excellence
  • You enjoy developing volunteers and younger musicians
  • You can receive feedback without spiraling
  • You can work with both musicians and tech people
  • You are organized enough to prepare well
  • You are flexible enough to adjust when plans change
  • You want to build culture, not just play songs

The Big Goal

The goal of this role is to help create worship environments where people encounter God, teams serve with joy, volunteers are developed, and Jesus is clearly at the center.

This is not about chasing hype or a platform. This is Worship Ministry, meaning it is about chasing spiritual leadership, team building, musical excellence, and authentic discipleship.

And yes, occasionally troubleshooting why ProPresenter decided to humble everyone.

Benefits

This role is a full-time role on GCC staff with medical, dental, vision, and 3% matching retirement.
