Pastor – Job Description

Calvary Baptist Church of Le Roy (CBC)

Required: B.A. from a Christian college or university, or M. Div.

Agreement with doctrinal statement, church covenant and constitution of CBC.

Preacher/Teacher – Passion for God, his word and the gospel

• He will preach the word of God, the whole counsel of God, at worship services.
• He will regularly teach subjects where pastoral perspective and biblical depth are needed.
• He will, along with the elders, protect the church from error and false teaching.
• He will, with the elders, officiate and oversee the ordinances: baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
• He will officiate at church weddings and funerals.

Pastoral Care – Compassion for God’s people

• He will team with the elders in caring for God’s people.
• He will be available to offer biblical counseling.
• He will meet/counsel with those interested in baptism.
• He will conduct pre-marital counseling for couples he marries.
• Along with the elders, he will correct believers who fall into sin.
• Along with the elders, he will pray for the congregation and the ministry.

Leadership/Administration

• He will lead in executing elder-endorsed CBC initiatives that advance the gospel.
• He will oversee worship services, in coordination with the worship team(s).
• Along with the elders, he will oversee the health of CBC ministries.
• He will conduct, when applicable, a new membership class for new member candidates.
