Job Description
Job Title: Kids Ministry Director
Location: Foley, AL
Anchor Point Church is seeking a full-time Kids Director to lead and oversee a dynamic, safe, and spiritually engaging children’s ministry. The Kids Director role is for a high-functioning leader who can build, grow, and sustain a healthy ministry through strong systems, intentional leadership development, and a passion for reaching and discipling the next generation.

Part-Time/Full Time: Full-Time, Salaried
Pay Range: Compensation based on experience and Compensation study comparables
Benefits: Health Stipend, Retirement option, Paid PTO
Reports to: Adult Ministries Pastor
Work Hours: Mon-Thurs 9 am – 5 pm, Sundays 7 am – 1 pm, First Wednesday, Special Events, seasonal programming, and conferences as needed, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- The Kids Director is responsible for leading and building a thriving, scalable Kids Ministry (birth–5th grade). This role is about leading a large, complex ministry with excellence, systems, and vision.
- You will oversee all aspects of the department, including safety, volunteer leadership, curriculum strategy, and parent engagement, ensuring that every child experiences Jesus in a safe and intentional environment.
- This role requires both vision and execution; requiring someone who can create engaging environments for children while also developing leaders, building teams, and implementing systems that allow the ministry to grow effectively.
Children’s Ministry Leadership
- Provide vision, strategy, and direction for the entire Kids Ministry
- Build and lead a healthy leadership structure (staff and key volunteers)
- Create scalable systems to support continued growth
- Set goals and track measurable outcomes for ministry effectiveness
- Manage children’s ministry budgets, schedules, and supply needs.
Safety & Operations
- Develop and maintain best-in-class safety and security systems
- Oversee check-in processes, classroom ratios, and emergency protocols
- Ensure all policies align with legal and insurance standards
- Create a culture where parents feel confident and secure
Volunteer Recruitment & Development
- Build a strong, sustainable volunteer pipeline
- Recruit, train, and retain a large volunteer team
- Develop leaders who can lead other leaders
- Create clear onboarding, training, and care systems for volunteers
- Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, and leadership development for volunteers.
Curriculum & Experience
- Oversee curriculum selection and alignment with the church vision
- Ensure engaging, age-appropriate, and biblically sound environments
- Create consistent, high-quality weekend experiences across all age groups
- Partner with other ministries to align discipleship pathways
- Oversee special events such as child dedications, seasonal events (Ex. Easter Egg Hunt), camps, and family-focused gatherings
Parent Engagement & Trust
- Build strong relationships with parents as primary spiritual leaders
- Develop communication strategies that equip families at home
- Handle pastoral care situations with wisdom and empathy
- Create a ministry that parents trust and want to invite others into
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading a large kids ministry or similar-sized team/department
- Strong organizational and systems-thinking skills
- Have previously demonstrated the ability to recruit, train, and lead teams at scale
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Passion for helping kids and families grow in their faith
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
- Familiarity with curriculum development or evaluation
- Experience in a church of 1,000+ attendees (Preferred)
- Experience building safety systems and volunteer structures (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree or ministry training (Preferred)
- 3+ years in ministry leadership, organizational leadership, or related field (Preferred)
- Affirms Anchor Point Church’s Statement of Faith and theological alignment.
