Position Summary

Level Grove Baptist Church is seeking a passionate, spiritually mature, and highly relational leader to serve as our next Children's Pastor/Director. This individual will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all ministries involving children from birth through 5th grade, partnering with parents and volunteers to help children know, love, and follow Jesus.

The Children's Pastor/Director will lead a growing ministry of 450+ children that prioritizes biblical teaching, Gospel-centered discipleship, volunteer development, family engagement, and outreach to our community.

This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and serves as a key member of the church leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities

Ministry Leadership

• Provide overall leadership and direction for all children's ministries from birth through 5th grade.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive discipleship strategy for children and families.
• Ensure all teaching environments are biblically sound, engaging, age-appropriate, and Gospel-centered.
• Create a welcoming and safe environment for children and families.

Volunteer Development

• Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteer leaders.
• Build and maintain healthy volunteer teams for Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, special events, and outreach opportunities.
• Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and spiritual growth among volunteers.

Parent Partnership

• Equip and encourage parents as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding ministry opportunities, discipleship resources, and upcoming events.
• Assist families in understanding salvation, baptism, and spiritual growth.

Programming & Events

• Oversee all Sunday morning children's ministry programming.
• Lead and coordinate Wednesday night children's ministry activities.
• Plan and execute annual ministry events, including:

Vacation Bible School (VBS) Kids Camp Children's Mission Opportunities and Mission Trips Seasonal family events and outreach initiatives

• Collaborate with church staff to support church-wide ministry objectives.

Administration

• Manage ministry budgets responsibly.
• Maintain ministry policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Utilize church management software and communication tools effectively.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and ministry planning.

Qualifications

Spiritual Qualifications

• A growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
• A clear calling to children's ministry.
• Agreement with the doctrines and mission of Level Grove Baptist Church and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Demonstrated Christian character, integrity, and servant leadership.

Ministry Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience leading or serving in children's ministry preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers effectively.
• A heart for discipleship and family ministry.
• Ability to work collaboratively with church staff and ministry leaders.

Education

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Seminary training is beneficial but not required.
• Equivalent ministry experience will be considered.

Time Commitment

This is a full-time ministry position requiring a minimum commitment of 40+ hours per week.

Regular responsibilities include:

• Sunday morning ministry leadership
• Wednesday evening programming
• Weekly staff meetings
• Volunteer training and development
• Family ministry events and outreach opportunities
• Seasonal ministry initiatives including Vacation Bible School, Kids Camp, and mission experiences

Some evenings, weekends, and overnight events are required throughout the year.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Includes both retirement and health benefits.
