Associate Pastor

Job Description

Position Overview

The Associate Pastor shall serve alongside the Lead Pastor in fulfilling the mission of Columbus Road Baptist Church. This role includes leadership in discipleship, administration, and pastoral care, with a strong emphasis on developing and equipping members for active ministry. The Associate Pastor must be a team player who actively supports and strengthens the overall ministry of the church.

Organizational Duties

• Attend staff meetings
• Assist in the organization and administration of church ministries, including:
• Outreach
• Greeters / Onboarding
• Adult Discipleship
• Care Ministries
• Provide training and development opportunities for ministry leaders
• Collaborate with staff, deacons, and volunteers as a team player
• Help oversee and support student, children, and youth ministries
• Equip and train members to serve effectively in ministry

Reporting Structure: The Associate Pastor shall serve the church and report to the Lead Pastor and the Deacon Board.

Administrative Duties

• Respond to correspondence as required
• Operate in accordance with the church Constitution and Bylaws
• Administer special projects, ensuring they remain on time and within budget
• Monitor the church budget and ensure expenditures are properly categorized
• Review monthly expenditures and identify areas needing attention
• Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor

Spiritual Duties

• Provide vision and spiritual guidance for the church
• Equip members for service to the Lord
• Train and develop members for ministry involvement
• Encourage and mobilize members into faithful service
• Provide biblical counseling to church members
• Meet with new members as needed
• Prepare sermons and lessons as requested
• Conduct baptisms and church services (Sunday, Wednesday, and special services) as requested
• Maintain a faithful personal walk with the Lord and uphold Biblical standards in life and ministry
• Refrain from participation in organizations not aligned with the church’s Biblical beliefs

Qualifications & Expectations

• A clear testimony of salvation and a calling to ministry
• Agreement with the doctrinal position of Columbus Road Baptist Church
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work effectively as a team player
• Experience (preferred 4–5 years pastoral experience)
• Demonstrated ability to equip and train members for ministry service
