Southside Methodist Church is seeking a passionate, organized, and spiritually grounded Director of Children’s Ministries to lead and grow a vibrant ministry serving children from birth through 5th grade. This individual will help create a safe, welcoming, Christ-centered environment where children and families can learn, love, and live Jesus together. The ideal candidate is a relational leader who loves children, partners well with parents, volunteers, and staff, communicates effectively, and can thoughtfully lead both weekly ministry programming and large-scale events such as Vacation Bible School, seasonal celebrations, outreach initiatives, and family ministry opportunities. The Director of Children’s Ministries will work closely with church staff, volunteers, and families to help guide the next generation in faith while building strong relationships throughout the church and community. Qualifications: Minimum qualification for the Director of Children’s Ministries: - Proven demonstrations of Christian values and character - Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university preferred - Minimum of five years demonstrated, effective supervisory ministry leadership experience in a church setting - Outgoing personality that is able to connect to children and adults in the congregation - Excellent teamwork and management abilities to lead ministry teams, multiple projects, and supervision of staff, volunteers, and contractors - Ability to innovate, initiate, organize, complete, and follow up on programs and events - Able to creatively problem-solve if issues arise - Able to maintain a high level of integrity, discernment, and discretion with sensitive information and people - Proficient in: spreadsheet software, Canva, and word processing software - Pass and maintain Level II FL Background screening Duties and Responsibilities: - Plan and carryout Sunday children’s programs, Wednesday night activities, seasonal and special events - Order necessary materials needed for programs and events - Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers and part-time nursery staff - Submit an annual budget and be fiscally responsible to work within the approved budget - Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of adults and children - Meet regularly with individual staff and attend weekly staff meetings - Understand and complies with the church’s child and youth protection policies - Verify background screening are up to date for all children’s volunteers and nursery staff - Other church activities assigned by Senior Pastor We are seeking a candidate based in or willing to relocate independently to the Jacksonville, FL area. The Youth Community Outreach and Youth Pastor position is responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic and comprehensive youth outreach plan that supports and advances the mission and community of FMC. We consider this team member a missionary to the youth of Carteret County. Accordingly, the intention would be that this team member is out in the Carteret community fifty percent of their time with the other fifty percent participating in church youth ministry for FMC. An undergirding philosophy for the youth ministry of First Methodist Church is B4: Be, Belong, Believe, Become. This is an exempt, full-time position with benefits. Salaray is negotiable and dependent on education and experience. The ideal candidate will be ordained in the Global Methodist Church or be on the path to ordination. Position Summary: This position is responsible for connecting the hearts of students grades 6 through 12 to Christ. They are Project MHC (Many Hands for Christ), summer mission to Costa Rica, and Extended Table Ministries- these are lay led ministries, but the Youth leader should be involved in planning and execution. - Support of youth of the church and community in their various activities outside of church such as sporting events, school events, and community events - Support the work of Larry Hughes, Our Worship Committee Leader in his work with our acolyte program Financial Management: - Prepare annual ministry goals and objectives with a corresponding budget focused on the Vision Statement of FMC. - Approve all expenditures of this position within the parameters of the budget approved by the Church Council. - Follow the financial management procedures of FMC with all supporting documentation being provided to the FMC Administrative Assistant in a timely manner as laid out by the Administrative Assistant. All expenses must be accompanied by receipts for such expenditures. Information Technology: FMC embraces the use of current and emerging technologies as an effective tool for conducting ministry. - Employees will use only church provided or approved technology during the couse of their ministry activities. Personal use of technology will be monitored for appropriate content as per Christian principles and doctrines. - Time will be given to learn the primary features of technology provided to maximize return on investment and maximize its benefit within this ministry. - Intellectual property developed during the courses of employment at FMC will remain with FMC if a separation of employment takes place. - New technologies will be reviewed and approved by the appropriate members of staff as assigned by the staff Communications Director.
