Position Summary
The Worship Leader serves as a spiritual shepherd and creative director of our church's worship ministry. This role is responsible for cultivating an authentic, spirit-filled worship culture that reflects our church's values — leading our church in excellent, presence driven worhsip. Beyond the platform, this leader recruits, trains, and pours into a thriving team of volunteer musicians, singers, and technicians.
Key ResponsibilitiesSunday Worship Leadership
- Plan, curate, and lead Sunday morning worship services in alignment with the sermon series and church calendar
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Pastor on service flow, themes, and song selection
- Maintain excellence in vocal and instrumental performance from the platform
- Foster an atmosphere of authentic, Spirit-led worship rather than performance
- Lead mid-week rehearsals and oversee all weekend music production
Volunteer Team — Recruiting & Onboarding
- Actively recruit and audition new volunteer musicians, vocalists, and technical team members throughout the year
- Develop and maintain a clear, welcoming onboarding process for all new worship volunteers
- Conduct new volunteer orientations covering theology of worship, team culture, expectations, and technical training
- Build and maintain a pipeline of future leaders by identifying talent within the congregation
- Partner with ministry departments to cross-promote volunteer opportunities church-wide
Volunteer Team — Development & Discipleship
- Mentor and spiritually invest in volunteers, fostering a community — not just a performance team
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and encouragement to all team members
- Lead quarterly team gatherings for worship, vision-casting, and fellowship
- Identify growth opportunities for individual volunteers (e.g., leading songs, running sound, etc.)
- Create and maintain team resources, training guides, and coaching materials
Production & Technical Oversight
- Operate and oversee Pro Presenter for all lyric displays, sermon support slides, and motion backgrounds
- Manage and maintain the church's SongSelect license and song library, ensuring up-to-date charts, keys, and arrangements
- Lead and coordinate Playback for in-ear monitoring mixes, tracks, and click content for weekend services
- Build and maintain all service orders, team schedules, and song assignments in Planning Center Online (PCO)
- Use Google Sheets to track volunteer availability, song rotation, team rosters, and service data
- Collaborate with the audio/visual tech team to ensure a seamless production experience
Administration & Planning
- Plan worship sets 4–6 weeks in advance using Planning Center Online
- Manage the annual worship ministry budget, including licensing, gear, and training resources
- Maintain organized and accessible chord charts, lead sheets, and multi-tracks for the team
- Communicate proactively with the pastoral team regarding service changes and creative needs
QualificationsRequired
- Genuine, growing personal faith and active membership in a local church community
- 3+ years of experience leading worship in a church setting
- Proficiency in Pro Presenter (slide building, media management, live operation)
- Working knowledge of SongSelect for song selection, transposing, and chart management
- Experience with Playback for multi-track and in-ear monitoring in live services
- Proficiency in Planning Center Online (PCO) — scheduling, song library, and team communication
- Comfortable with Google Sheets for team management and data tracking
- Strong vocal and/or instrumental ability (guitar or keys preferred)
- Proven ability to recruit, build, and lead volunteer teams
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Worship Arts, or related ministry field
- Experience with in-ear monitor mixing and multi-track playback systems
- Familiarity with CCLI licensing and copyright compliance
- Experience working within a multi-staff church environment
- Background in audio engineering or live sound production
