Youth Ministry Director

Job Description

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Youth Ministry Director is to disciple youth from 6th Grade through the end of High School so that they become authentic followers of Jesus. The Youth Ministry Director will lead, equip, and support our parents, families, and Pine Grove people to support the discipleship process.

While the core responsibilities of this position are outlined below, a portion of the role will be shaped after hiring to align with the candidate's unique gifting, experience, and passions, as well as the strategic needs of the church. These responsibilities will not exceed one quarter of the Youth Ministry Director’s average work hours.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A Christian man of proven spiritual maturity who possess the God-ordained character qualities of a Christian leader (1 Timothy 3:8-13).
• An undergraduate degree in biblical/theological/pastoral studies.
• Youth ministry experience preferred.
• Agreement with the doctrinal statement at Pine Grove Church.
• Demonstrates a clear track record of commitment to the local church, serving faithfully in the local body to which he belongs.
• A desire to make a commitment to 5 years to see a full ministry cycle of high school.

ACCOUNTABILITY

• The Youth Ministry Director reports to the Senior Pastor of Pine Grove Church.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Youth

• Provide vision and direction for youth ministry.
• Recruit, develop, and equip volunteers and leaders for youth ministry.
• Refine and implement the current volunteer staffing plan which includes recruitment, training, evaluation, and recognition.
• Organize and oversee youth group events such as regular youth group meetings, camps, retreats, service trips, outreach opportunities, mission trips, fundraisers, and other social events.
• Maintain frequent communication with parents and families, coming alongside them and enabling them to be the primary disciple makers of their students.
• Guide and direct the discipleship of Pine Grove’s youth.
• Connect the youth group with other areas of ministry within the church, maintaining healthy connections with other staff and ministry leaders.
• Teach and coordinate teaching of the Word of God to students in a way that is true to the text, engaging to the students, and applicable to their lives.
• Invest and engage in personal relationships with Pine Grove’s youth, directing them towards following Christ.
• Create a healthy environment where students feel welcome and connected to one another.
• Oversee budget and purchases of all needed materials for youth ministry.

Family Ministry

• Advance a cohesive development program for Pine Grove youth including transitions into middle school, high school, and into post high school, working closely with the Family & Children’s Ministry Director.
• Assist the Family & Children’s Ministry Director to encourage and equip family discipleship by providing resources, counseling, and training for parents.

Other

Additional responsibilities will be developed in collaboration with the Senior Pastor based on the successful candidate's spiritual gifts, experience, strengths, and the evolving ministry needs of Pine Grove Church. This flexibility is intended to create a role that best equips the employee to serve the church effectively while supporting the church's mission.
