First and foremost, Long Beach Alliance Church (LBAC) is a church gripped by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are theologically Gospel-centered, functionally family-oriented, and passionate about our missional focus. We are a multi-generational church family of around 250 people that has been serving the Long Beach community since 1928. As members of the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA), we are a family fully engaged in the greatest mission in history. We are not just looking for someone to fill a pastoral role; we are looking for someone who wants to be “ruined by the Gospel” with us—a person prepared to lead the charge in unleashing the message of the Gospel upon a desperate and dying world.

Position Overview

The Worship Pastor serves as a spiritual architect, prioritizing a "pastor first, musician second" philosophy to cultivate a gospel-centered, Christ-exalting worship culture. This role is not merely a musical director but a vital facilitator of spiritual formation, responsible for planning and leading transformative worship experiences that align with the church’s theological vision.

Core Responsibilities

• Visionary Leadership & God-Directed Worship: Collaborate weekly with the Lead Pastor to craft services that glorify God and point the congregation to Him. We seek to foster an environment where praise music is less “me-focused” and more God-focused, lifting Jesus above all things.
• Pastoral Duties: Collaborate in the broader pastoral life of LBAC, providing inspiring shepherding across the congregation. This includes sharing in pastoral care, officiating services including weddings and funerals, and occasional preaching in alignment with the Lead Pastor’s vision.
• Platform Leadership & Musical Style: Lead corporate worship with musical excellence and a humble, authentic stage presence. We desire a primarily contemporary worship emphasis, thoughtfully sprinkled with occasional traditional music. The candidate must be a proficient vocalist and instrumentalist (guitar or keys preferred) capable of leading a modern, rhythm-driven band.
• Team Discipleship & Recruitment: Identify, recruit, and mentor a "leadership pipeline" of volunteer musicians and vocalists. Provide intentional relational shepherding, prioritizing the spiritual health of team members and mentoring the “youngers” of the next generation to serve with their technical and musical gifts.
• Technical & Production Oversight: Oversee the "Technical Arts" department, including live audio, lighting, and streaming. Ensure high-level execution of essential ministry tools such as Planning Center, ProPresenter, and Ableton/MultiTracks.
• Administrative Excellence: Manage the annual worship budget and ensure full legal compliance with CCLI and streaming licensing. Maintain high-quality communication and scheduling systems for all volunteers.

Requirements

• Demonstrates a clear calling to Gospel-centered ministry, possesses a servant-leader lifestyle, with a strong work ethic, and an initiative-taking personality.
• A team player with a minimum of 5+ years of proven worship leadership experience in a similar church setting.
• Christian & Missionary Alliance Licensing: The LBAC Worship Pastor will be required to obtain licensing with the C&MA. Qualified candidates must be in full support of the C&MA Statement of Faith (https://cmalliance.org/who-we-are/our-faith-and-mission/statement-of-faith).
• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred.

Financial & Positional Details

• Salary Range: $75,000–$80,000, plus benefits.
• Note on Cost of Living: The cost of living in the greater Los Angeles area is very high. Prospective candidates in single-income families are encouraged to carefully consider the sacrificial living that would be required to serve in this position.
