Position Overview

The Worship Pastor is responsible to develop and oversee all areas of the worship ministry including, leading worship, recruiting and coaching singers and musicians, sound technicians, media operators, etc. They must perform these tasks in a way that flows within the overall vision of the church. The Worship Pastor will also work in tandem with the Lead Pastor and other pastoral staff members (specifically the Creative Director) to ensure ministries, sermon series, and events are planned out and coordinated ahead of time, including overseeing the weekend experiences.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

The primary responsibilities include:

Worship

• Develop, facilitate, and oversee all areas of the worship ministry.
• Ability to lead from an instrument, guitar or keyboard is preferred.
• Recruit, equip, empower and lead all singers and musicians.
• Schedule worship volunteers using Planning Center Online.
• Plan and execute the worship for all adult services.
• Assist as needed with other church ministries in their worship needs.
• Work with pastoral staff to plan and executive creative elements for sermons and special events.
• With the Lead Pastor, assist in developing and reviewing the programming of the services.
• Provide a weekly practice for singers and musicians.
• Develop, maintain, and oversee the yearly budget for the worship ministry.

Media

• Oversee sound, including equipment operation and maintenance on both sides of the building.
• Recruit, train, and lead all sound, video, lighting, and media technicians.
• Some basic knowledge of sound and lighting preferred.

General

• Participate in various all-church events, outreaches, services, etc.
• Attend a weekly staff meeting.

Job Skills & Requirements

• Is comfortable facilitating a Pentecostal worship experience. Willing and able to navigate and guide moments of corporate worship, including making space for the Holy Spirit to move through moments of silence, reflection, and prayer, as well as through structured set lists.
• A heart for worship, and a heart for people.
• Agreement with the fundamental doctrines of the Assemblies of God (See the 16 fundamental truths of the AG at ag.org) – AG credentials preferred.
• Commitment to good interpersonal relationships, teamwork, support of other church ministries and leaders, as well as pleasant personality.
• Cordial and professional conduct.
• Attention to detail and follow-through on assignments and deadlines.
• Great vocal singing ability.
• Ability to lead a team rehearsal with proficient musical knowledge.
• Dependable and timely attendance with the ability to vary schedule when needed.

Evaluation and Compensation

The Worship Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor and will receive an annual performance review by the Lead Pastor. Compensation will be reviewed annually.
