Worship Ministry Director

Job Description

Crosspoint Church is a thriving Wesleyan congregation of approximately 1,200 located in a growing college town. We are seeking a Worship Ministry Director gifted with shepherding and leadership ability to join our team. This Director will lead the worship ministry by overseeing scheduling, preparing song sets for various worship services, helping care for the volunteers in the worship ministry, discipling emerging worship leaders, and working alongside our kids and youth pastors in integrating the next generation in worship.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Congregational Worship

• Lead and engage the church in Spirit-filled congregational worship that honors God, glorifies the name of Jesus, and edifies the church.
• Encourage participation using Biblically-sound songs, scripture reading, responsive readings, prayers, and other elements.
• Lead for various services (weekend, prayer gatherings, other events).

1. Volunteer Care and Oversight

• Provide regular pastoral encouragement to volunteers within the Worship Ministry (leaders, vocals, band, sound, media, broadcast).
• Provide care and wisdom to volunteers experiencing hardship, requesting prayer, guidance, etc.
• Foster community and encouragement beyond rehearsals and worship services by facilitating team gatherings throughout the year, intentionally expressing appreciation for their participation in the worship ministry.

1. Administrative Tasks

• Oversee and work alongside the Worship Ministry Assistant who will be responsible for scheduling.
• Oversee and maintain all music supplies and materials, ensuring they are organized and readily available for worship services and rehearsals.
• Work alongside sound, media, and broadcast teams to support the functionality of all technical elements, helping identify needs, coordinate updates, and ensure systems effectively serve the worship experience.

1. Volunteer and Leadership Development

• Identify godly and skilled individuals to raise up to be leaders within the ministry, discipling them and helping them build their skills.
• Oversee interns, practicum students, and other students from local colleges getting service hours within this ministry.
• Grow volunteer base with local members.

Qualifications

• Displays the characteristics of a godly shepherding leader. (1 Peter 5:1–6)
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
• Agreement with the Articles of Religion of The Wesleyan Church.
• Skilled vocally and instrumentally, and able to lead worship bands.
• Familiarity with Planning Center, Pro Presenter, and working knowledge of working a sound system.
• Experience in disciple-making, mentoring leaders, and team-based ministry.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a staff team and under the leadership of the Lead Pastor.
