Position Summary

The Worship Director at Woodcrest Church provides visionary and hands-on leadership for worship, helping create environments where people long to encounter God every time we gather, relying upon the Holy Spirit.

This role is central to advancing our mission of relentlessly pursuing authentic relationships with Jesus, one another, and our community.

The Worship Director will cultivate a Spirit-led, Christ-centered worship culture, lead engaging weekly services, and oversee the technical aspects that support worship gatherings. This individual is both a leader and developer of people—building teams, discipling volunteers, and fostering a culture of excellence, unity, and authenticity.

Primary Responsibilities

Worship Leadership & Planning

• Plan, organize, and lead engaging weekly worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and staff team
• Plan and lead mid-week youth worship during the school year with the Associate Pastor.
• Select music that is biblically grounded, theologically rich, and accessible for congregational worship
• Lead rehearsals that are both spiritually meaningful and musically excellent
• Help shape a worship culture that prioritizes participation, authenticity, and spiritual engagement

Team Development & Discipleship

• Recruit, train, and disciple worship team members (musicians and vocalists)
• Build a healthy team culture rooted in encouragement, accountability, and spiritual growth
• Develop leaders within the ministry and create pathways for new volunteers to get involved
• Provide coaching, feedback, and intentional leadership development

Technical Oversight

• Provide vision and supervision for technical aspects of worship gatherings, including:
  • Audio (front-of-house and monitors)
  • Lighting
  • Presentation software and media systems
• Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteer tech teams
• Ensure systems are maintained, organized, and functioning with excellence
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and implement systems that promote consistency and reliability
• Collaborate with church leadership on future upgrades and long-term vision

Creative Collaboration

• Partner with the Lead Pastor and staff to design cohesive, meaningful, and impactful worship services
• Contribute to the creative direction of services including flow, visuals, and special elements
• Align worship planning with sermon series and overall church direction

Additional Ministry Responsibilities

At Woodcrest Church, we believe ministry is shared and collaborative. Based on gifting, passion, and church needs, this role will include additional ministry leadership such as:

• Small groups or discipleship initiatives
• Community outreach and engagement
• Next-generation or family ministry involvement

This ensures the Worship Director is fully integrated into the life and mission of the church.

Qualifications

• A growing and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• A life that reflects spiritual maturity, humility, and a heart for ministry
• Strong vocal ability with proficiency in guitar or piano
• Experience leading worship in a church or similar ministry setting
• Working knowledge of worship technology and systems
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• A passion for building teams and developing people
• Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Woodcrest Church

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $55,000–$80,000 (commensurate with experience)
• Health insurance stipend
• Retirement contribution
