Job Description

Tipton Baptist Church is seeking an experienced lead pastor who loves God’s Word, lives a life of worship, and has the heart and actions of a motivating shepherd.

Tipton Baptist Church (TBC) has been serving the Northern Blair County region for more than 100 years. We are committed to lead people to know, follow, and treasure Jesus in every area of life. We are a multi-generational, evangelical church of 200 attenders, anchored by Scripture and shaped by grace, service, and growing faith.

Significant ministries have grown out of TBC over the years including a licensed daycare and preschool, a thriving youth ministry and children’s ministry. The church is well positioned for transformational impact today.

This is an opportunity to preach and teach God’s Word while equipping, encouraging, engaging and shepherding the church and to grow a multi-generational congregation that’s passionate about impacting our neighborhood, city, state and the world for Christ. We are looking for a leader who believes that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him and whose desire is to cultivate that in our people.

The pastor will be responsible for casting and communicating a clear, compelling vision that aligns with the church’s mission and values, inspiring the congregation toward spiritual growth, unity, and active engagement in ministry and outreach. This includes prayerfully discerning direction, articulating long-term goals, and equipping leaders and members to carry the vision forward in practical and meaningful ways.

The pastor will be responsible for preparing and delivering biblically sound, engaging expository sermons and for overseeing the planning and organization of weekly worship services. This includes coordinating service elements, leading or collaborating with ministry teams, and ensuring each gathering is spiritually meaningful, well-structured, and aligned with the church’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• A mature, growing relationship with Jesus, marked by humility, prayer, and obedience.
• Experience serving in or familiarity with an elder-led or governing-board model of governance.
• Teaching and shepherding gifts supported by a minimum of 5 years ministry experience (preferred) in a church setting with 125+
• Agree to Tipton Baptist Church’s doctrinal statement, mission and values
• Federal (and eventually state if out of PA) background checks
