Senior Pastor

Job Description

Great Swamp Baptist Church is searching for a pastor who is committed to the inerrancy and authority of the Bible. He will agree with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 and will lead our church into the future with conviction, vision and humility. The ideal candidate has experience leading other churches of our size, demographic makeup and theological commitments. This candidate will be relational in his delivery and firm in his conviction.

Our next pastor will be easily approachable, a man skilled in relationship building and have conflict resolution skills. He will value the insight of long time members of the church but not cater to any one (or groups) desire to the neglect of others. He will make biblical decisions concerning the direction of the church and communicate them with grace while leading gently over time.

He will work closely with our school administrator, CDM Committee, teachers and staff to integrate faith into the school environment and support the school’s mission. He will provide spiritual guidance, mentorship and pastoral care to students, and sometimes the wider school community. He will act as a bridge between the school and the church, fostering a positive and supportive environment grounded in faith.

If he has a family he will put God first, his family second, and the church third. We desire a pastor who models faithful leadership in the home and allows that to overflow into his leadership at church.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Serve as the spiritual leader of the church

2. Work with the worship leader to plan the worship service for the church

3. Operates as the church’s primary Bible teacher and
   Preacher

4. Conducts weddings, funerals, and baptisms according to
   the doctrinal commitments of our church as needed.

5 Councils members and families when needed on how to live
biblically faithful lives.

1. Officiates the Lord’s Supper on a regularly basis.

2. Serves as an ex-officio member of all church committees.
   and teams.

3. Ensure ongoing ministry to homebound, nursing
   home, hospital visitations and outreach program.

4. A lifestyle consistent with the biblical requirements for
   leaders (1Timothy 3:1-13, Timothy 2; Titus; 1: 5-9).

10.Bachelor of Divinity (BD) or Master of Divinity (MDiv). Not required but is preferred and pastoral experience is a plus.
