Pastor of Worship and Discipleship

Job Description

Yellow Leaf is seeking a faithful, gifted, and ministry-minded Worship Pastor who will lead our congregation in Christ-centered, Scripture-shaped worship and assist in strengthening the discipleship ministry of the church.

The ideal candidate will have a clear testimony of salvation in Jesus Christ, a confirmed calling to pastoral worship ministry, and a heart to shepherd people through both worship and discipleship. This position requires someone who values congregational singing, blended worship, biblical faithfulness, and the spiritual formation of the church body.

Primary Responsibilities

The Worship Pastor will be responsible for planning and leading weekly worship services that are biblically grounded, Christ-exalting, and engaging for the congregation. He will lead a blended style of worship that honors the rich hymns of the faith while also incorporating biblically faithful modern worship songs.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Support the overall mission, vision, and ministry direction of the church.
• Plan and lead Sunday worship services in coordination with the Senior Pastor.
• Lead the congregation in worship with a focus on congregational singing rather than performance.
• Recruit and shepherd worship team members.
• Oversee worship-related technology, including sound, media, and presentation needs.
• Assist in discipleship ministry through teaching, small groups, ministry training, or other areas based on gifting and church needs.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate should:
• Have a clear testimony of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
• Demonstrate a clear calling to worship ministry and local church ministry.
• Affirm Baptist doctrine and be willing to serve in alignment with the beliefs and practices of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• Have experience leading a congregation in blended worship.
• Possess musical competency and the ability to lead vocally and/or instrumentally.
• Be able to work well with church staff, volunteers, and members.
• Show spiritual maturity, humility, teachability, and a servant-hearted attitude.
• Have a desire to help believers grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Desired Experience

Previous experience leading worship in a local church setting is preferred. The strongest candidates will have experience building and shepherding worship teams, planning services, working with volunteers, and leading worship in a way that encourages active congregational participation.

Our church is looking for a worship pastor who loves the local church and desires to serve in a relational, family-oriented ministry setting. We are seeking someone who will not only lead songs but also shepherd people, encourage spiritual growth, and help our congregation worship Christ faithfully together.
