Job Title: Midtown Campus Pastor & Worship Director

Reports To: Lead Pastor

Employment Type: Full-Time | Executive Team

Primary Location: Midtown Campus

Position Summary:

The Midtown Campus Pastor & Worship Director serves as the primary pastoral presence at the Midtown Campus and as the Team Leader for the Worship Ministry of Good News Church.

This role provides leadership for the spiritual health and development of the Midtown Campus while also guiding the creative and practical leadership of the Worship Team across the church. The Midtown Campus Pastor & Worship Director works closely with the Lead Pastor to ensure the vision, theology, and culture of Good News Church are faithfully expressed through the life of the Midtown Campus and the weekly worship gatherings of the church.

Midtown Campus Leadership:

  • Translate church-wide vision and strategy into clear campus goals and ministry initiatives.
  • Cultivate a healthy campus culture that reflects the mission, theology, and values of Good News Church.
  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor of Strategy & Operations to ensure alignment with church-wide direction.
  • Evaluate and continually improve the weekend worship environment and guest experience at the Midtown Campus.
  • Identify, recruit, and develop volunteer leaders who multiply ministry.
  • Build and sustain a strong volunteer leadership pipeline.
  • Develop and support key volunteer ministry leaders who oversee teams and help shepherd volunteers.
  • Implement systems that move people from first-time guests to active participants in the Good News Discipleship Pathway.
  • Coordinate and align Midtown Campus ministry teams on Sundays including Kids Ministry, Connections, Worship, and Operations to ensure effective Sunday execution.
  • Regularly communicate vision, direction, and ministry priorities to Midtown volunteers and leaders.

Worship Ministry Leadership:

  • Lead weekly Worship Team meetings, coordinating the creative and practical aspects of Sunday worship gatherings for both campuses.
  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor to plan and execute worship services.
  • Maintain systems for worship scheduling, service flow, and rehearsal planning.
  • Coordinate all elements of the worship gatherings so services consistently point people to the reality of Jesus.
  • Work closely with the Production Team to ensure excellent execution of sound, media, and lighting during worship gatherings.
  • Lead weekly pre-service gatherings with spiritual emphasis and practical preparation for each service.
  • Ensure worship gatherings reflect the values of Good News Church.
  • Develop and steward the Worship Ministry budget.

Preaching & Teaching (5-8 times per year):

  • Preach approximately 5-8 sermons a year.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and teaching team in sermon planning and series development.
  • Help manage the preaching schedule as directed by the Lead Pastor.

Shepherding & Pastoral Care:

  • Participate in the church’s pastoral care systems.
  • Oversee logistics for weddings & funerals, working with other pastors and teams to coordinate the overall pastoral presence during these important life moments.
  • Shepherd leaders and volunteers through relational discipleship and spiritual guidance with a primary focus on Midtown Campus attendees.

What Success Looks Like (12-18 Months):

  • A healthy and growing worship ministry led by strong volunteer teams.
  • Weekend services that are engaging, welcoming, and spiritually meaningful.
  • A functioning Next Steps process that moves people from attendance to discipleship environments.
  • A growing base of volunteers and lay leaders serving the Midtown Campus.
  • Participation from Midtown attendees in the Good News Discipleship Pathway.
  • Measurable growth in attendance, baptisms, volunteer engagement, and generosity at the Midtown Campus.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
  • Proven leadership presence with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and lead volunteer teams.
  • Theological alignment with Good News Church and commitment to its discipleship pathway.
  • Experience leading worship in a local church.
  • Emotionally healthy and organizationally capable.
  • Ordination/licensing (or willingness to pursue) consistent with denominational expectations.
