EXECUTIVE PASTOR Full Time (40 hours a week) | Reports to Lead Pastor

Position Job Summary: The Executive Pastor provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure the mission and vision of the church are effectively executed. This role aligns staff, systems, and ministries to maximize impact, health, and growth.

What You Will Do (Job Responsibilities Overview):

  • Lead and oversee the staff and maintain regular meetings with all staff
  • Develop and deploy the strategy of the church in conjunction with the Lead Pastor
  • Collaborate with Lead Pastor regarding ministry administration and implementation of mission and vision of the church
  • Be the communication liaison between Lead Pastor and other staff members
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor regarding the hiring, coaching, developing, leading, and transitioning of staff members
  • Coordinate with HR/CFO regarding staff changes and updates, including PTO requests, raises, etc.
  • Help create annual church budget with Lead Pastor and Finance Team
  • Help manage the financial and budgeting operations of the church
  • Coach staff to manage ministry budgets and steward resources effectively
  • Review, create, and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective operation of the church
  • Lead quarterly & annual employee reviews

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Vision Implementation & Strategic Leadership
  • Translate the Senior Pastor’s vision into actionable plans
  • Lead strategic planning processes (annual, quarterly)
  • Ensure all ministries align with Freedom's mission and priorities
  • Track key performance metrics (KPM's) and progress toward goals
  1. Staff Leadership & Organizational Health
  • Lead, coach, and develop staff team (directly or through ministry leaders)
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and staff structure
  • Build a healthy staff culture (communication, accountability, unity)
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings and leadership rhythms
  1. Operations & Systems Oversight
  • Oversee day-to-day church operations
  • Develop and maintain scalable systems and workflows
  • Ensure excellence in guest experience, weekend services, and facilities management
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
  1. Financial Stewardship
  • Assist budgeting process in partnership with finance team & Lead Pastor
  • Monitor financial health and reporting
  • Ensure responsible stewardship and alignment with vision
  • Provide financial insights to Lead Pastor and Elders
  1. Ministry Alignment & Effectiveness
  • Ensure ministries are strategically aligned, properly resourced, & measurably effective
  • Work with ministry leaders to set goals and evaluate outcomes
  • Eliminate ministry silos and foster collaboration
  1. Leadership Development
  • Identify and develop emerging leaders
  • Build leadership pipelines (staff and volunteer)
  • Provide coaching and accountability for key leaders
  1. Communication & Execution Clarity
  • Ensure clear internal communication across staff and ministries
  • Drive organizational clarity (who does what, by when, and why)
  • Reduce confusion and duplication of effort
