Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Director will provide Godly leadership in developing, implementing, administrating, and shepherding a comprehensive Early Childhood Ministry (Birth–5 Years Old), alongside and under the direction of our Next Gen Pastor. They will strive to create environments where children experience the love of Jesus in accordance with God’s Word, Vision, and Core Values of Victory Life Church.
Provide direction and care to the staff and volunteers of the Early Childhood Ministry as they minister to young children and their families.
Work directly alongside the Kids Pastor and Next Gen Pastor to ensure alignment across all Next Gen ministries and create a smooth transition into Kids Ministry.
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Salary (Exempt)

EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma required; some college or coursework in education, ministry, or child development preferred
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple classrooms, volunteers, and schedules
- Warm, approachable, and strong in communication with both parents and team members
- Demonstrates a genuine love for young children and a passion for early faith development
- Ability to lead and support volunteers in a positive and encouraging way
- Basic understanding of child safety, classroom management, and age-appropriate environments (or willingness to learn)
- Willing to be trained and developed in ministry leadership and early childhood best practices
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clearly communicate and execute the vision and direction established in Early Childhood Ministry ensuring it aligns and champions the overall vision of the church.
- Oversee and lead all Early Childhood environments including Nursery, 1s & 2s, 3-year-olds, and 4s & 5s.
- Lead and facilitate a combined lesson time (outside of Nursery), while equipping and empowering volunteers to lead classrooms, crafts, and activities.
- Develop or implement engaging, age-appropriate curriculum that introduces children to foundational truths about God.
- Create a welcoming, nurturing, and safe environment where children feel secure, loved, and cared for.
- Safety is our highest priority in everything we do. This includes systems, training, background checks, and consistent enforcement of all safety protocols.
- Champion family discipleship by partnering with parents and equipping them with tools to lead their children spiritually at home.
- Always be recruiting, resourcing, equipping, and championing a strong volunteer team within Early Childhood Ministry as part of the larger Kids Ministry volunteer culture.
- Delegate authority over tasks and trust volunteers to lead well while providing ongoing training and support.
- To serve families through care, prayer, and intentional ministry moments.
- Assist as needed in all worship services and seasonal gatherings of VLC.
- Maintain needed office hours, attend all staff, ministry, and departmental meetings. Actively contribute through sharing ideas and prayerful support.
- Regularly report to the Next Gen Pastor for accountability, encouragement, planning, and personal development.
- Work with the Kids Pastor, Executive Pastor, and Next Gen Pastor to manage ministry needs and budget.
- Maintain organization and systems for check-in, classroom transitions, and volunteer scheduling.
- Be present and engaged on Sundays (9am & 11am) and Wednesdays (6pm).
- Support Kids Ministry communication and social media efforts as needed.
- NETWORK! Build relationships with families and the community as opportunities arise.
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Has a personal relationship with and love for the Lord that is growing and desires to see children and families have this same relationship.
- Demonstrates spiritual and moral character with a lifestyle that is consistent with the scriptural qualifications for an elder as outlined in 1 Tim. 3:1-7, Tit. 1:5-9 and 1 Pet. 5:1-4 and the Victory Life Constitution and By-laws.
- Agrees with and will commit to the Statement of Faith of Victory Life Church.
- Committed to moral purity and, if married, to a healthy relationship with spouse and family.
- Loves Victory Life Church and is committed to the vision and direction of the church.
- Prior experience in kids or early childhood ministry is strongly preferred.
- Shows competency in organization, systems, and team leadership.
- High priority in people over projects.
- Willing to submit to the direction, guidance and vision of those in leadership.
- Ensure integrity and responsibility in all areas of the ministry.
- Build relationships that lead to discipleship with children and their families.

In the winter you are but a quick drive away to the mountains for your fulfillment of skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing or even just a mountain get away. Our community is growing, with more and more people moving to the area there are also more opportunities. New homes and communities are popping up all around our area.
Victory Life is a contemporary Assemblies of God church of approximately 1,000. We are experiencing a lot of momentum and growth in our church and are excited to see all that God is doing in our Valley in and through the local church. We are located in Fruita, Colorado.
