Job Description
General Summary of the Position
The Pastor of Community leads the staff, strategy, and systems that help people move from guests to engaged disciples at Grace Community Church. This leader will cast vision, standardize practices, and develop teams that make a clear and compelling way for the people at Grace to connect the church, grow in community, and live on mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and lead leaders who will embody hospitality and spiritual care.
- Work collaboratively with Campus Pastors and Global leaders to implement consistent discipleship and connection strategies across campuses.
- Design and champion a clear group discipleship pathway that aligns with Grace’s mission of being and making disciples.
- Oversee guest connection ministries, ensuring a welcoming and intentionally connecting environment.
- Refine and lead key community and assimilation environments, such as Discover Grace and Membership Class.
- Establish rhythms for ongoing leader development, curriculum support, and multiplication of groups.
- Participate in teaching, counseling, and shepherding responsibilities as needed.
- Partner with Communications to ensure clear storytelling, promotion, and celebration on behalf of the ministry area.
- Participate in All-Staff meetings and events, weekly staff prayer, and Team Week.
Skills and Abilities:
- Deep and growing relationship with Jesus, grounded in Scripture and dependent on prayer.
- Strong leadership and relational skills with the ability to recruit, motivate, and multiply leaders.
- Strategic thinking toward the design and execution of systems that move people toward spiritual maturity.
- Excellent communication and teaching skills, comfortable leading groups and facilitating discussions.
- Shepherd’s heart balanced with logistical discipline.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and details without losing sight of vision.
- Experience working across multiple campuses is preferred.
Education, Training, Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of ministry leadership experience (discipleship, small groups, or spiritual formation focus).
- Bachelor’s degree required; seminary degree preferred.
- Proven experience leading leaders and developing teams in a large church setting.
Work or Ministry Team Context: This role serves on the Global Strategy team and the Old Jacksonville Campus Team, leading staff and volunteers at OJ and discipleship and assimilation leaders at other campuses.
