Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Pastor of Student Ministries & Next Steps to lead and inspire our youth community while guiding individuals through their spiritual journey toward next steps in faith. The ideal candidate will be a committed Christian with pastoral training, a heart for mentoring young people, facilitating meaningful teaching and outreach programs, and creating opportunities for spiritual growth and connection. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the faith development of the next generation and help individuals discover their purpose within the church community.
Qualifications:
- Deep personal faith commitment aligned with our church’s doctrinal beliefs.
- Proven experience in youth ministry or related roles involving teaching, mentoring, or counseling young people. Prefer degree in pastoral ministry.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver compelling sermons and teachings.
- Team player with strong collaboration skills.
- Performs high quality work with minimum supervision within assigned deadlines.
- Thinks strategically while staying focused on the accomplishment of current priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate weekly student worship services, which includes being the primary speaker, as well as coordinating all logistical aspects of ministry (scheduling, programming, etc).
- Facilitate Small Groups for students by leading & equipping volunteer leaders.
- Facilitate Sunday morning student group during the 10:30 a.m. service.
- Build relationships with students by attending school activities, sporting events, lunches, etc.
- Plan an annual calendar of events (camp or retreat, mission trip, a few fun outings).
- Develop mentoring or discipleship groups for student leaders and potential leaders.
- Recruit, train, supervise adult volunteers.
- Facilitate students serving on ministry teams and mission teams.
- Support parents of students by addressing concerns, educating, and counseling.
- Oversee follow-up of first-time guests.
- Oversee baptism process.
- Track and encourage engagement of First Connection Lunch Attendees over the next quarter.
- Investigate and implement other ways to help people take their next spiritual steps.
- Prepare and maintain a ministry budget.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Assist with pastoral duties such as baptisms and hospital visitation (1 week on-call every 8 weeks).
- Occasional preaching opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
