Job Description: Pastor of Students
SCOPE
This pastoral role provides leadership and vision for all Students between the 6th-12th grades.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To Students:
• Form a community of students (6-12 grades)—who practice the way of Jesus at home, at
school, and in our Lowcountry Community.
• Lead 2 weekly formational and fun touchpoints (currently Sunday morning and Wednesday
evening)
• Lead missional service engagements for our students toward our local community and global
partnerships.
• Provide pastoral care, crisis intervention and management, and referral connections as needed
with students.
• If ordained, the pastor may share responsibilities such as: weddings, funerals, baptisms,
pastoral appointments, visitations, mentoring, Sunday care, and on-call responsibilities. These are shared responsibilities amongst the pastoral staff.
To Parents/Caregivers:
• Represent the NextGen team and its vision to parents/caregivers.
• Create regular environments for parents/caregivers to learn and grow around current cultural
issues facing young people today.
• Equipping parents/caregivers to be the primary discipleship-makers of their household.
• Provide regular and clear communication with students and/or parents/caregivers about student
ministry events.
To Staff:
• Participates and engages joyfully in Saint Peter’s staff culture
• Provides weekly ministry updates to the Staff at Saint Peter’s via weekly meeting
• Investing in each staff member individually and as a team, providing vision, direction, standards, and knowledge through weekly meetings.
• Participating in and developing pathways for NextGen Ministry programs and events such as Advent, Lent, Easter, etc.
COMPETENCIES
• Competent in recruiting, developing, and coaching the volunteer teams.
• Availability and presence on Sunday mornings, providing proactive and responsive care as
needed
• Relationally oriented with a heart focused toward youth and family discipleship.
• Enjoys, and is comfortable, speaking in medium size group settings of adults and students.
• Team player: Humble and team oriented in leadership style fully participating in the overall
leadership of our Church as a member of the Saint Peter’s Staff.
• Carefully plan and manage the Student Ministry’s budget.

• A person of prayer, and peace, who is committed to loving and serving our Lowcountry Community in the name and power of Jesus Christ.
• Has a relationship with the Presence of God and practices the way of Jesus
• Lives by an established Christian rule of life and seeks to cultivate the fruit of God’s Spirit.
• Values self-leadership, growing and developing their leadership gifting, and is willing to take
risks for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
• Relationally compatible with the Lowcountry culture.
• Lead with and honor the Saint Peter’s Leadership Covenant as revealed in the attached
document.
COMPENSATION
• Full time (40-45 hours)
• Salary negotiable based upon experience (we adhere to industry standard compensation bands) • Life Insurance and Cell Reimbursement
