River Oak Grace Community Church has celebrated 40-years as a family focused non-denominational church sitting on a 24-acre campus located in the town of Oakdale, California. It is equally positioned in the central valley, an hour and a half from the San Francisco Bay Area, capital city of Sacramento, and the mountains of Yosemite. The Elder Board, staff, and congregation are in search of a Senior Pastor who has effective leadership, a passion for discipleship, evangelism, and a desire to use his spiritual giftings to grow the kingdom of God. The Senior Pastor of River Oak Grace (ROG) will give himself to the ministry of the Word and prayer, seeking to walk uprightly before the Lord in his personal life while seeking the vision and will of the Holy Spirit on behalf of the congregation. The Senior Pastor reports regularly to the Elder Board regarding the health and progress of the ministry, vision, and mission of the church. The Senior Pastor leads the staff by upholding the standards of the ministry while providing the tools to do so. He is expected to guide, mentor, counsel, and lead in such a way as to promote and instill individual spiritual growth and accountability, along with ensuring the staff consistently works together as a team in all aspects of ministry. The Senior Pastor teaches the congregation according to the Holy Bible and in conjunction with our Statement of Faith.* He leads through consistent prayer, scripturally sound study, sharing of the gospel, professional growth, and empathetic personal interaction. Professional Qualifications: 5+ years upper level church leadership, preferably within a Senior Pastoral position 10+ years of continuous church pastoral ministry positions Minimum of a 4-year college degree in formal Biblical education (a Master’s degree in Theology, or Divinity, and/or Seminary background preferred) Licensed or ordained as a Pastor (Must be able to provide proof of appointment) Personal Qualifications: Personal acceptance and belief in Jesus Christ alone as his Savior and Lord Pursues a Spirit-led life of faith, relationship, and dependence on Christ Must believe that God manifests Himself in three distinct and separate Persons, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) each of Whom is God and is to be honored and worshipped as God If married, has a supportive and ministry-involved wife, to whom he is accountable Personal character that exemplifies humble, yet confident leadership Financially obedient in consistent tithing and special offerings Expectations of the Senior Pastor: Communicate and lead plans of vision with the Elder Board, staff, ministry leaders, and congregation Have biblically constructive conversations and regular dialogue with the Elder Board, staff, ministry leaders, and congregation Must have a heart and passion for evangelism, discipleship and missions Consistent spiritual discipline in the areas of Bible study, prayer, and fasting Regularly accountable to the Elder Board Spiritual leader of his family, and place high priority on them Visibly intentional pursuit of moral and ethical purity according to scripture Willingness to be involved in, or available to, all ministries of the church outside the formal duties as Senior Pastor Build relationships with local church leaders, along with our local and global mission partners Preaches the Word with accuracy, inspiration, and boldness Service to the Body: Promote personal spiritual growth through bold biblically-sound teaching, equipping in evangelism, encouraging life group membership, all in line with our Statement of Faith* Provide Biblical counseling or mentoring for individuals and couples as necessary Perform premarital counseling, officiate weddings, and funerals for the church body, as requested Teach and facilitate the Connections Class for those wishing to become members of ROG Prepare believers for baptisms, and perform baptisms for the church body Oversee benevolent opportunities in the community Interface with Ministry Staff: Run weekly staff meeting for prayer, fellowship, communication of vision, alignment of resources, and overseeing ministry plans for the staff Perform annual staff reviews, offer guidance, instill discipline and oversight as needed Address conflict resolution between the staff and/or the congregation Evaluate and meet with candidates for open staff positions Partner with the Executive Director to use the systems of ROG to execute ministry plans with excellence Work with the Executive Director and the Elder Board to create annual budgets within the scope of available funding, and confirmed through prayer Community: Work with community leaders, and encourage congregants to participate in events to demonstrate the willingness of ROG to support local needs Partner and build relationships with other local churches to further the Kingdom of God Build relationships and partner with local Christ-minded organizations and our city government Application: If you have read this job posting and feel that you are being called to this position, please copy and paste this link rog.church/seniorpastorapp for more information and how to apply.
