Position Description
Title: Student Ministries Pastor (Middle School, High School, College & Young Adults)
Hours: Full-time
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Role Summary
The Student Ministries Pastor will provide vision, leadership, and pastoral oversight to a thriving and growing ministry spanning middle school, high school, and college/young adults. This individual will build upon a strong foundation of biblical teaching, intentional discipleship, and committed volunteer leadership, helping students and young adults grow into mature followers of Jesus Christ.
This role requires a leader who is both a builder and a steward—someone who can faithfully sustain a healthy ministry while continuing to develop leaders and deepen discipleship.
Current Ministry Overview
- Church size: ~700 weekly attendance and experiencing steady growth
- Four weekly services (three on Sunday and one on Monday evening)
- Weekly Wednesday night youth gathering (middle & high school): ~60 students
- Sunday morning youth Bible study: ~20–30 students
- Weekly Monday night college/young adult ministry: ~30 attendees
- Active and engaged leadership team of ~25 adult volunteers
- This ministry has experienced significant growth in recent years and is currently healthy, structured, and supported by a strong leadership culture.
Primary Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership & Teaching
- Provide consistent, biblically faithful, and engaging teaching across student and young adult ministries
- Lead and implement a clear, reproducible discipleship strategy
- Cultivate a gospel-centered culture focused on spiritual growth and maturity
Leadership Development
- Recruit, equip, mentor, and shepherd volunteer leaders
- Strengthen and lead an existing team of committed adult leaders
- Develop student and young adult leaders for ministry and service
Ministry Oversight
- Lead weekly youth ministry environments (middle and high school)
- Oversee Sunday morning youth Bible study
- Lead and develop the college/young adult ministry
- Plan and execute key ministry events (camps, retreats, outreach opportunities)
- Create, find, and run age-appropriate games and activities
Pastoral Care & Relational Ministry
- Shepherd students, young adults, and families through discipleship, counseling, and care
- Build relationships with students in their everyday environments (schools, activities, community)
- Partner with parents to support spiritual development in the home
Secondary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with church staff and attend regular staff meetings
- Oversee student ministry communication and calendar planning
- Manage and steward the student ministry budget
- Lead or coordinate mission trips and special events
- Track ministry engagement and participation
- Participate in the broader life of the church (services, small groups, pastoral duties as needed)
- Continue personal and professional growth through training, conferences, and networking
Qualifications & Experience
- A clear calling to student and/or young adult ministry
- Demonstrated ability to lead and sustain a healthy, growing ministry
- Strong biblical teaching ability with a commitment to sound doctrine
- Demonstrates strong theological depth and the ability to faithfully and clearly teach Scripture
- Proven experience recruiting, developing, and leading volunteer teams
- Relationally driven with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including conflict resolution and willingness to have hard conversations
- Ability to manage multiple ministry environments with organization and clarity
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required (ministry or biblical studies preferred)
- Graduate-level theological education (Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Ministry, or equivalent formal theological training) is preferred. Relevant ministry experience required; candidates should demonstrate proven readiness to lead a dynamic, multi-level student and young adult ministry
- Equivalent experience and demonstrated competency in biblical teaching and ministry leadership will also be considered
