Position: Worship Ministries Leader
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Classification: Hourly/Volunteer, part-time, non-exempt- 15-20 hours per week as agreed upon by church leadership
General expectations while performing duties:
- Be supportive of the church's Vision and Mission Statement, its ministry objectives, and the Confession of Faith of the US Mennonite Brethren Conference of Churches Model the values of the church
- Be collaborative with NLC church staff and other volunteers
Duties:
- Plan and develop Sunday morning services of worship where people can learn and grow in their expressions and experience of God seeking to exalt Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, and leaning on the power of the Holy Spirit, and making sure the worship experience is Biblically calibrated.
- Promote a personable and relational attitude and context for gathered times of worship Engage and serve people of diverse backgrounds, including a live online community
- Provide leadership for worship service/production team:
- Select and prepare appropriate Christian worship music for Sunday worship service(s) in coordination with the Lead Pastor and worship team leaders o Direct and/or coordinate rehearsals by various worship leaders/choir members/accompanists
- Provide worship music selection(s) and related information to the worship production team by the Wednesday prior to each Sunday, using Planning Center, including Worship Team,
- Recruit, train, coordinate, and integrate the media/tech/production side for all worship platforms Incorporate innovative worship elements and new worship music in worship service(s)
- Provide for the same quality of worship leadership when absent
- Recruit and train vocals and instrumentalists of all ages and backgrounds
- Provide additional practice times to train up new instrumentalists
- Provide direction for worship service participants:
- Recruit, train and coordinate participants for roles on worship teams/choir(s), as instrumentalists or vocalists, for special music, instrumental ensembles and/or as accompanist(s)
- In concert with the Lead Pastor, develop and direct a team of volunteers to support the service(s)
Other Expectations:
- Committed to no more than 7 Sundays absent from worship service(s) per calendar year (approximately 1 Sunday every 7 weeks)
- In mutual agreement with the Lead Pastor, provide for additional worship opportunities during the week as needed. (There are not currently many opportunities scheduled)
