Midway Baptist Church is looking for an Associate Pastor to join their team. Midway is a growing, multi-generational church focused on glorifying God and making disciples. Our church family is unified, generous, and devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ. We are located in Phenix, VA, a rural setting about 45 minutes from Lynchburg and 20 minutes south of Appomattox. We are looking for a full-time Associate Pastor to work with the whole church and have a focus on adults. Midway seeks to reach people for Christ and make disciples from children to senior adults. The Associate Pastor will help disciple people through Christ-centered teaching, leading, and shepherding as well as seeking to reach the community with the Gospel. Primary Ministries: Leading – Provide vision, leadership, and management in line with the mission and vision of Midway Baptist Church – Recruit, train, lead, and equip ministry volunteers and leaders – Assist Senior Pastor with ministerial duties and in worship services, as needed Teaching – Prepare and teach Christ-centered lessons from God’s Word, aimed at transforming hearts, in multiple formats throughout the week Shepherding – Develop meaningful relationships with the congregation – Minister through personal communication, prayer, counsel, and soul care – Assist in creating a welcoming church environment by connecting with visitors and prospective members through personal outreach and follow-up Ministry Requirements Qualifications – A life and ministry that are marked by humility, integrity, and spiritual maturity and meets the standards of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 – Vibrant personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ – Theological agreement and shared convictions with Midway Baptist Church and its Statement of Faith. – Strong interest and experience in ministry – Supportive of the church’s overall mission, ministries, and pastoral leadership – Skilled at cross-cultural and cross-generational ministry within a socioeconomically diverse congregation – Proficient at mobilizing members and executing strategy – Gifted communicator in oral, written, and digital contexts – Possess a graduate-level degree in theology, divinity, or religious studies Key Values & Characteristics – Follower of Christ – Active devotional and prayer life – Committed to the inspiration, authority, and sufficiency of the inerrant Word of God – Personal holiness and integrity – Leadership gifts with a shepherd’s heart – Strong interpersonal skills – Commitment to the Great Commission and heart for the nations – A teachable spirit and willingness to be personally developed while also developing others – Energetic, motivated, and creative – Team builder and player
