Position Summary:
The Youth Pastor is a full-time position under the supervision of the Designated Staff Lead. This role provides spiritual leadership, discipleship, and direction for youth ministry (typically ages 12–18) and partners with families to help students grow in their faith and develop a biblical worldview.
Purpose:
To share the Gospel of Jesus Christ by leading youth ministry at Maurice Reformed Church. The Youth Pastor will foster spiritual growth in students and families, encourage discipleship, and help the uncommitted come to faith in Jesus Christ.
Spiritual Qualifications:
- Maintain a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Demonstrate biblical knowledge and uphold Scripture as the inspired, infallible Word of God.
- Align with the Reformed interpretation of Scripture and the church’s doctrinal standards.
- Model a strong devotional and family life.
Qualifications:
- Passion for youth ministry and spiritual development.
- Spiritual gifts in teaching, leadership, encouragement, and shepherding.
- Membership (or willingness to become a member) of Maurice Reformed Church.
- Commitment to church ministry and teamwork.
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in youth ministry or a related role.
- Proficiency in digital communication, social media, and ministry-related technology.
Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly youth programming, Bible studies, and discipleship groups.
- Provide pastoral care and mentoring to students and families.
- Plan and oversee retreats, camps, service projects, and mission trips.
- Develop outreach efforts to engage students outside the church.
- Equip students to live out their faith and serve in the church and community.
- Recruit, train, and encourage youth ministry volunteers.
- Maintain consistent communication with parents and provide discipleship resources.
- Collaborate with church staff to ensure youth ministry aligns with the overall vision.
- Maintain safety protocols and manage the youth ministry budget.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in church life.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Program Coordination:
- Plan and implement weekly youth group gatherings, Bible studies, and small groups.
- Coordinate special events such as retreats, mission trips, and outreach nights.
- Maintain an active calendar of youth ministry events and ensure all logistics are managed.
- Ensure volunteers are equipped and supported in each program.
2. Sunday Mornings & Youth Worship:
- Support students in engaging with church worship and intergenerational fellowship.
- Provide occasional opportunities for students to lead or participate in worship.
- Encourage youth participation in Sunday morning service and church life.
3. Community Engagement:
- Build relationships by attending student activities such as school events, concerts, and games.
- Establish a visible presence in the local schools and community.
- Partner with local educators and organizations to support youth and explore outreach opportunities.
Expectations:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Work primarily from the church office.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and other church leadership gatherings.
- Be actively engaged in the life of Maurice Reformed Church.
