Children's Ministry Director Ministry Description The Children's Ministry Director provides overall leadership and strategic direction for Lazy Mountain Bible Church's ministry to children and their families, from nursery through 5th grade. Through comprehensive, age-appropriate biblical education, the Children's Ministry Director builds a strong foundation of faith that inspires children to know Jesus and live as His followers. Qualities The Children's Ministry Director needs to be someone who: 1. Is a growing believer in Jesus Christ. 2. Agrees with LMBC's doctrinal statement and is willing to become a member. 3. Is a strong, kind leader who is organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, think strategically, and effectively cast vision that moves people and ministry forward. 4. Has a genuine love for children and families and a passion for their spiritual growth. 5. Communicates clearly and warmly with children, parents, volunteers, and church leadership. Responsibilities Develop and Implement Biblical Education Strategy 1. Develop and maintain a cohesive ministry strategy for children nursery through 5th grade that aligns with LMBC's overall mission and vision. 2. Select or develop age-appropriate, biblically grounded curriculum for all children's ministry programming. 3. Oversee and maintain a midweek program for children. 4. Submit an annual ministry calendar and budget to the Executive Pastor, outlining teaching plans, events, and training for the coming year. Build and Lead the Ministry Team 1. Recruit, train, and shepherd strong volunteer teams that are well-equipped to serve children and families effectively. 2. Cast vision, train, and care for volunteers so they're equipped and encouraged to serve well. 3. Work collaboratively with the youth ministry to ensure cooperation and coordination across generational ministries. 4. Engage actively in weekly staff meetings to communicate ministry needs and maintain alignment with the church's overall vision and mission. Ensure Child Safety and Security 1. Maintain a safe and secure environment for all children and families by ensuring that sound policies and protocols are in place and consistently practiced. 2. Ensure all children's ministry volunteers maintain current and up-to-date background checks prior to serving. Engage Families and Community 1. Follow up with new families and connect them to the ministry community. 2. Provide effective family-focused activities and resources. 3. Develop and maintain clear and consistent communication with families. 4. Design outreach events that connect children and families to the broader community. 5. Cultivate a heart for missions among children and families. Oversee Administration and Budget 1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all children and volunteers. 2. Develop and manage the annual children's ministry budget. Expectations 1. Maintain regular and appropriate office hours. 2. Regularly attend weekly services and provide ministry support. 3. Keep confidentiality and operate with a spirit of truth and love. 4. Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by the Executive Pastor. Reports To Executive Pastor Works With LMBC Ministry Staff and Volunteers Compensation This is a full-time salaried position (40+ hours per week). Starting salary $50,000– $60,000 with a $500 monthly health stipend ($6,000 yearly). Paid Holidays: New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If ministry responsibilities prevent taking a holiday, an alternative day within the same week may be taken. Vacation benefits are as follows: 0–5 years: 2 weeks paid / 1 week leave of absence 6–10 years: 3 weeks paid / 1 week leave of absence 11–15 years: 4 weeks paid / 1 week leave of absence 16+ years: 4 weeks paid / 2 weeks sabbatical / 1 week leave of absence
