HILLCREST BAPTIST CHURCH Position Title: Student Pastor Reports To: Discipleship Pastor Date Prepared/Revised: June 2012 / July 2021 / August 2024 Principle Functions: The Student Pastor will be responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive ministry for all Junior High – College students. I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Under the direction of the Discipleship Pastor and in keeping with the policies of Hillcrest Baptist Church, plan, develop, and implement a variety of discipleship opportunities to challenge the students to become fully devoted followers of Christ. This will include the approval of curriculum, enlistment and training of leaders, management of space, and approval of other resources used. 2. Plan, coordinate, and lead a vibrant, creative, innovative midweek worship service for students which creates an atmosphere of fellowship and celebration as well as reverence and awe. 3. Plan and coordinate trips, camps, and retreats for students. 4. Plan and provide periodic social activities for students. 5. Coordinate with and support the worship and mission ministries opportunities for students. 6. Coordinate with the Discipleship in preparing and presenting an annual budget to the Church Council. 7. Engage in connecting with students on and off campus for the purpose of evangelism and mentoring. II. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Demonstrate a spirit of cooperation with the Senior Pastor, deacons, other staff members, and all Church leadership in promoting the entire ministry plan of the Church. 2. Actively participate and support the outreach and visitation programs of the Church. 3. Be available to provide spiritual, Biblical guidance to Church and non-church members, as necessary. 4. Work with the Nominating Committee in recruiting, enlisting, and training workers for all student ministry areas. 5. Serve as an effective staff liaison to assigned ministry teams and/or standing committees. 6. Utilize the services of the ministry assistants and facilities staff in ways which are consistent with their position descriptions. 7. Supply articles on a periodic basis for use in Church publications and on the website relating to the student ministry. 8. Give full support to the Unified General Operating Budget of Hillcrest Baptist Church and avoid soliciting or expending funds not previously authorized. 9. Serve on the Church Council. III. BASIC PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed prayer, worship, Bible study, missions, and service. 2. Maintain proper priorities in your home and be the spiritual leader of your family. 3. Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the Church. 4. Financially support the ministries of Hillcrest Baptist Church by faithfully giving at least 10% of your gross income. Maintain wise stewardship measures over the remaining 90%. 5. Assist in other duties and assignments as required.
