Position Summary Grace Bible Church is seeking a Senior Pastor to shepherd and lead a vibrant congregation within an age-restricted retirement community. This role requires a spiritually mature leader who is committed to faithfully preaching God’s Word, providing compassionate pastoral care, and offering visionary, biblically grounded leadership. The Senior Pastor will champion the church’s mission to make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus Christ while aligning all ministries with the church’s Vision and Core Values. Send all info to: positions@gbcsuncity.org Primary Responsibilities Preaching and Teaching - Deliver consistent, expository, and biblically sound sermons - Preach a minimum of 45+ Sundays per year, currently two services each Sunday - Provide theological leadership through teaching and discipleship initiatives Spiritual Leadership - Serve as the primary spiritual shepherd of the congregation - Demonstrate a strong commitment to prayer and personal spiritual discipline - Provide pastoral care, counseling, and support, particularly attuned to the needs of a senior adult population Vision and Leadership - Lead the church in fulfilling its mission and strategic vision - Equip and mentor staff and ministry leaders - Foster a culture of discipleship, service, and spiritual growth - Passionate about Global Missions, actively involved in the Leadership of GBC Missions’ Team Congregational Engagement - Actively participate in the life and community of the church - Build meaningful relationships within a senior congregation - Provide leadership in times of celebration, transition, and pastoral need - Perform funerals as required Administration - Oversee church operations in collaboration with staff and leadership teams - Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and organizational leadership - Utilize basic technology and online tools to support ministry functions Qualifications and Requirements Education and Credentials - Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Divinity, or related field (minimum requirement) - Accredited ordination credential Experience - Minimum of 5 years of pastoral ministry experience, including preaching and teaching in a church greater than 800 congregants - Demonstrated experience in pastoral care and counseling Core Competencies - Strong biblical knowledge and commitment to expository preaching - Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills - Proven leadership and administrative abilities - High level of personal integrity, discretion, and spiritual maturity - Ability to relate effectively to a senior adult congregation Personal Characteristics - A devoted prayer warrior with a deep and growing relationship with Christ - Compassionate, patient, and attentive to the needs of older adults - Humble servant-leader with a shepherd’s heart - Committed to unity, encouragement, and spiritual vitality within the church Compensation and Benefits - Competitive and generous benefits package - Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications Grace Bible Church Sun City Arizona Senior Pastor Job Description 4.14.2026 Grace Bible Church serves a senior congregation in an age-restricted retirement community in Sun City, Arizona. Purpose: The purpose of the Senior Pastor is to lead and support the Mission of Grace Bible Church to make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus, including its Vision and Core Values. The main responsibilities are to preach the Word faithfully, to minister to the spiritual needs of the congregation, and to provide visionary and Biblical leadership for Grace Bible Church. General Characteristics and Expectations - A clearly articulated salvation experience and personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. - Consistent spiritual and moral lifestyle, exemplifying the Mission and Purpose of Grace Bible Church, Statement of Faith, and Covenant of Fellowship, meeting the qualifications listed in Scripture, the Bylaws, including Exhibit A, and complying with the Employee Handbook. - Demonstrated ability display the qualities of I Corinthians 13 by shepherding and relating positively to people of all ages and backgrounds, including the congregation, the staff, and the public. - Will be a male, a member of this Church, meeting the requirements of the Board of Elders, and in compliance with the Employee Handbook. - Attendance at Board of Elders and congregational meetings; leading regular staff meetings; making reports as requested, and involvement in Church life. Primary Responsibilities - The Senior Pastor serves under the authority of the Board of Elders of which he is a voting member (but cannot be an officer), and with them is the final authority for all Scriptural matters and discipling of church members. - Provides vision-casting and spiritual oversight to the staff and congregation. - Preaches and teaches the Word of God, administers the ordinances, and shepherds the congregation, including but not be limited to visitation, counseling, and prayer. - With the Board of Elders supervises employee leadership staff. - Oversees the duties of staff personnel. - Works with the Board of Elders to secure speakers as necessary to fill the pulpit, for conferences, and for special meetings. - Works with the staff and various ministries to create positive relationships and programs that enhance the purpose and ministry of Grace Bible Church. - Leads and/or participates in the resolution of any conflict that arises. - Performs other duties as outlined in the Bylaws and Employee Handbook or assigned by the Board of Elders.
