First Baptist Church of Gautier, Mississippi, is seeking a full-time Minister of Music to lead a Christ-centered, multi-generational worship ministry with a strong choral foundation. This individual will work with the Senior Pastor to plan and lead worship services that are biblically faithful, congregationally engaging, and musically balanced. Responsibilities include directing the worship choir, leading worship in a blended format (hymns and modern praise), overseeing all music ministries (pre-school – adult), and developing and equipping volunteers, including instrumentalists and media/sound teams. The Minister of Music will also assist with weddings, funerals, and special services. This is a dual-responsibility position. In addition to music ministry, the candidate will serve in a secondary ministry role based on their calling, gifting, and experience (e.g., senior adults, missions, discipleship, or students). The church desires to align this responsibility with the strengths of the candidate God calls. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1–7 as applicable to ministry leadership, and possess strong leadership, musical, and organizational skills. The candidate must affirm the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message and be committed to building a choir-centered, congregational worship culture. Preferred qualifications include a degree in music or ministry and experience in leading choir-based, multi-generational worship in a local church setting.
