Kids Pastor – Profile of Expectations
Role Summary
The Kids Pastor provides spiritual leadership, vision, and oversight for all children’s ministry environments (birth–5th grade). This role exists to help children know Jesus, equip parents as primary disciplers, and build a strong, healthy volunteer culture. All of this will fall under our church mission: Share Jesus, Disciple Believers, and Love People.
This position is built around a threefold focus:
1. Connect with Kids
2. Connect with Parents
3. Connect with Volunteers
1. Connect with Kids (Discipleship & Environment)
Create engaging, Christ-centered environments where kids love coming to church and clearly understand the gospel.
• Teach and oversee biblically sound, age-appropriate content
• Handle the Word of God with accuracy, clarity, and passion (2 Timothy 2:15)
• Design environments that are fun, safe, clean, and spiritually intentional
• Ensure every child is known, welcomed, and valued
• Develop systems for guest follow-up and next steps (salvation, baptism, discipleship)
2. Connect with Parents (Partnership & Influence)
Partner with moms and dads as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.
• Build relational trust with parents
• Communicate consistently what kids are learning and how to reinforce it at home
• Provide tools for discipleship at home
• Be visible and available before and after services
• Create engagement touchpoints like parent meetings and milestone moments
3. Connect with Volunteers (Leadership & Culture)
Recruit, train, and care for a thriving volunteer team.
• Proactively recruit and onboard volunteers
• Build a leadership pipeline
• Provide clear roles, training, and coaching
• Foster a culture of appreciation and spiritual growth
• Maintain strong scheduling and communication systems
4. Community Engagement (Outreach & Presence)
Extend the church’s influence into the community.
• Engage in local sports, schools, and family activities
• Build relationships with coaches, teachers, and community leaders
• Create outreach opportunities for unchurched families
• Support or lead community events
5. Leadership & Execution
Lead with vision, energy, and spiritual maturity
• Plan and execute weekly services with excellence
• Stay organized and follow through on details
• Collaborate with church staff
• Steward budget and resources wisely
