THE ROLE OF THE NEXT-GEN PASTOR
The primary role of the Next-Gen Pastor is to introduce young people to Christ, disciple them in spiritual growth and equip them to serve Christ. The Next-Gen Pastor also equips parents/guardians to disciple their children. The Next-Gen Pastor is responsible for planning, promoting and coordinating education and activities for grades six through twelve.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Integrate the mission and vision of DCC into student ministry goals and activities
- Oversight of Young Adult, High School and Middle School programming
- Lead and organize effective programs for students that are biblically accurate, culturally relevant and high-energy
- Actively engage in student’s lives for the purpose of ministry and discipleship on and off the DCC campus
- Assist in organization and compilation of Sunday morning curriculum
- Assist in organization and compilation of Youth Evening programming
- Plan and administer Bible study sessions
- Address and resolve conflicts in a healthy manner
- Be an active presence in local middle and high schools with periodic visits engaging students at school
- Chapel liaison between Family Ministry and preschool
- Recruit, develop and train volunteer leaders
- Maintain contact with students, parents and leaders to keep them informed of events and activities
- Maintain a ministry strategy that encourages involvement
- Participate in the planning and execution of trips, retreats and events
- Collaborate with other student ministry leaders
- Actively participate and attend staff meetings and other meetings related to the student ministry
- Assist in the development of annual student ministry budget and be a responsible steward of the budget
- Educate, encourage and facilitate student participation in church-wide community outreach initiatives
- Provide counseling and spiritual direction to students on a regular, individual basis
- Uphold the policies and procedures of DCC
- Be a team player executing miscellaneous duties that contribute to the vision and mission of DCC

- Ability to interact and relate to young people by earning trust and respect
- Strong management and leadership skills in preaching and educating religious messages
- Develop proficiency in evangelical studies and youth ministry
YOUR TEAM
- This position reports directly to the Family Ministry Directors
- This position is under the supervision of the Senior Minister and Church Administrator
- This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities

- Maintain a culture of empowerment, transparency, teamwork, effectiveness, purpose, people over programs and self-reflection as outlined in the staff handbook
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Preference of Bachelor of Arts Degree in an area of Christian ministry.
- Two or more years of hands-on experience ministering to teenagers.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in children and/or youth ministry, including team development and volunteer leadership.
SCHEDULE
- This is a full-time, salaried position around 45 hours a week. Time is dispersed throughout the week in the office, in ministry activities, attending meetings, visiting students, and attending youth or church related events.
