TERMS
30-40 hours weekly (depending upon availability), 12-month term, with possibility of applying for a
permanent position, PTO offered, start date Summer/Fall 2026.
OVERALL PURPOSE
To teach and mentor the children of Deerbrook Covenant Church to grow in their relationship with Jesus
Christ. Build relationships to equip and encourage all involved in children’s ministry. The director will
exemplify a personal relationship with Christ which will encourage others to grow in their spiritual lives.
RELATIONSHIPS
• Teach and mentor children with a kind heart introducing them to a lifelong relationship with Jesus.
• Support and equip parents to play active roles in this development. Join our community of believers.
• Promote and encourage volunteers within the children’s ministry and build relationships with parents.
• Work with the pastoral staff and church leadership to carry out the goals of Deerbrook Covenant Church.
• Report directly to the Senior Pastor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leadership
o Recruit and manage volunteers while creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and teamwork.
o Encourage and support all volunteers through training, planning, prayer and fellowship.
o Meet with the staff weekly to pray, discuss, and plan our ministries.
• Sunday Classes
o Create an environment that engages the faith of kids at their developmental stages.
o Coordinate and schedule all children’s ministry activities for Sunday mornings.
o Prepare and set up children’s rooms for Sunday mornings.
• Curriculum
o Oversee the selection and purchase of modern curriculum for children that will assist them in
cultivating a biblical world view and an understanding of Christian values.
o Provide volunteers with the necessary resources and lesson plans.
• Communication
o Maintain regular communication with families, leaders and volunteers regarding Sunday morning
lesson plans, activities and schedules.
• Administration
o Maintain all equipment and supplies related to the children’s ministry area.
• Special Events
o As time allows, direct and plan various additional children’s ministry such as mid-week ministry,
summer sports camp or VBS, workshops, seasonal programs and events, etc.
• Professionalism
o Maintain a professional appearance.
o Be punctual and attend all meetings and required events.
o Self-starter, good at multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
o Resolve problems in a resourceful and Christ-like manner. (Ephesians 4:24-32, Matthew 18)
o Agree to the Relational Covenant of Deerbrook Covenant Church.
o Communicate openly and honestly about needs, problems and ideas for improvement.
• Safety and Security
o Ensure that appropriate safety and security procedures are established and followed at all times.
o Maintain applications and background check forms for adult volunteers and distribute Deerbrook’s
Policy to Protect Children, Youth and the Adults Who Work With Them.
